The proposed bowl game between the SBC and AAC in Orlando is not a surprise, but the game in Austin is a total surprise, if not a shock. That was suppose to be between the AAC and C-USA.

From reading, and listening a number of sources on AStateNation.com, apparently the AAC was frustrated with the way negotiations were going with C-USA, and when Little Rock decided to pull their bowl request, the AAC approached the SBC about joining them in Austin, and dumping C-USA.

If it gains final approval this could make an AAC, SBC match up in any future LR Bowl game less likely.  Probably have to be against MAC, C-USA or MWC.

Nothing whatsoever against LR, but SBC fans, including A-State fans,  seem to favor Austin and Orlando over LR by a wide margin.

Regardless if the bowl games in Austin and Orlando get final approval, and they are expected to, the SBC getting a 4th, and 5th bowl tie-in against the best of the G5 Conferences, is great news for A-State. Big, big plus in recruiting.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
