Best of luck RWIII; once a razorback, always be a razorback.

Be nice to see him lead the team through the "A" one last time.

It sure would.

I feel really bad for Raleigh. And although its sad he did get a chance to know what he was capable of doing on any given Saturday. That's more than 95% of the planet if not more. I hope he stays for his degree and makes it to the league in some capacity. Well wishes Mr. Williams!!!

Let us remember the good.  Here are highlights from of one of the best performances I've seen in person.  It was a cold night in Starkville but Rawleigh was on fire:

As good as RWIII was on the field he is even better off.  A great young man with an infectious smile and bright future.

Terrific clips, fact. Thank you.
Thank you RWIII.....you will always will be a Razorback. We love you!

First I want to say that this is absolutely the right decision for Rawleigh and his family.  Secondly I want to add that this situation is exactly why the change of culture within the program that Coach Bielema has brought is so important.  It's not just about what these guys can accomplish 12 or 13 Saturdays each fall.  It's about getting them ready for their lives. Without the injury, Rawleigh had a chance to be an NFL running back.  But that's not what it has always been about.  Now he has over 50% of his finance degree requirements met, he has a bright future.  He has the admiration of teammates, coaches, and fans.  Football brought Rawleigh to Fayetteville and I'm thankful for that.  But football doesn't define Rawleigh Williams III, he would be the same amazing young man if he'd never even touched a football. That's a credit to him and his wonderful parents Rawleigh JR and Kim and his brother Brian and sister Alyssa.
My heart aches because he's lost the ability to do something he loves, but I smile when I know he will spend the rest of his life showing others how good life can be when you focus on the right things.

So well put, FOTH. Always enjoy getting your perspective.

Paul Finebaum just mentioned Rawleigh. Started out with "sad news from Fayetteville..."

Listening to this young man I sure would like to meet his parents some day because they raised a fine, fine example of a young man.  What a stellar example he is for the Razorbacks.  I'm sorry his football career is over but I believe he is headed for great things in his life.

trphog

Once a Hog always a Hog RWIII. Blessings going forward. Now it's time to watch DW lead the league in rushing.

HamSammich

Probably one of the pinnacle razorbacks of all time. You guys can poo poo my opinion but I'll think of him as one of the best RBs we've ever had. That being said I'm happy and relieved the man knows what is best in life.

I don't feel sorry for him. Seeing his best skills, judgement and sacrifice, he's going to be on top in his life.

Great player, but a better person. Still in the hog family.
This hiding behind he has a great recruiting classcoming in crap is just another excuse for this man. you could give this man M. Johnson and Larry Bird togather and he still would not win. he is a pitiful coach who can,t coach a lick.-fcj 1/22/2011

All Razorbacks learned to love RWIII and his family.
That won't change. As far as I'm concerned he was one of the greats on the field and will no doubt be so in life.

Given the situation, I hope the U of A steps up and honors his scholarship until the completion of his degree. Best wishes to RW3

Quote"What we'll do is proceed with what we fortunately can do in a bad situation," Bielema said. "We'll put him on a full medical scholarship where he is entitled to everything just as much as he was as the SEC leading rusher.

"He's able to take care of his academics. He's actually on a progression that he'll graduate — his goal is to graduate with a finance and accounting degree — and then also start a graduate program here at Arkansas. He's going to work specifically with me a little bit in our recruiting department and also with the running backs. Kind of a work in progress."

Not sure that's not against NCAA rules. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him on staff one day.

Why would it be?  Heck at this point he can stay on the roster for all we care?  He won't have any affect on the 105 would he?  It's not like losing him, he helps us sign another RB?

Bielema first began discussions with Williams about taking such a role just hours after his April 28 injury. Bielema arrived at the hospital in Fayetteville that evening as alarms for a tornado warning were going off. Williams, along with his family, some friends and Bielema, had to escorted into the hallway as a result of the storm. That's when the conversation turned to life after football.

"We kind of started telling stories about tornadoes and it was one of those moments where we carried on the conversation and talked about, 'Well, if it weren't football, what would you do?,' " Bielema said. "I told him at that time, I said, 'Hey, if it does get to that point, you've got a job with me any day of the week.' "

Good luck to you young man. You still have a bright future and lord willing a long life to enjoy it. We know you may be down and out about having to make this tough decision but I'll leave you with a couple of words my dad would always tell me when I was down and out about something or upset because of something "It's better than the alternative. "
A couple female midgets, a few bottles of Wild Irish Rose, and a room at the Trout Inn...... who knows what may happen.....

As a fan I hate to see him have to quit playing. But it is what I expected and feel it is the right decision for him to make. I don't know that I would have came back last year and just look at the year he had. He will always be one of my favorite Hogs. With his attitude I believe he has bright future ahead of him in whatever career he chooses to follow. I'm not sure what's in the name but we have sure had a lot of classy athlete's named Williams.

Hogs7672

I read something many years ago that I've always remembered and tried to apply it to my business as well as family and friends.....It was...You will always be valued by what you do, how well you do it, and the difficulty in replacing you. I have a feeling that will be Rawleigh. What an amazing young man.

TeufelHog

SMART decision RWIII!  You will be missed on the field, but this was the right call for your future.  Loved to watch you run on Saturday's and proud of your efforts on and off the field.  Thank you for being such a great representative of our State, University, and our Team!  WooDamnPig!

Best of luck, really enjoyed watching you play ..... may God be with you as you come to grips with your decision!

Not unexpected and the right choice. His well being trumps anything he could bring to the gridiron.

God speed young man. Thanks for being a Hog now and forever.
There are fans and there are supporters. The latter carries the weight.

What a stud both physically and mentally. Thank you so much for the memories RW3. You will be severely missed, but we are all behind you young man. You're a hog for life and noone can take that away from you. Thank you again!

Iwastherein1969

Devwah, oh Devwah....you have the talent, the speed, the size and the character to step into the formidable shoes of #22....ready for you to bust out and show the SEC just what Devwah Whaley is all about and make RWIII proud. You got this, brah.
The long Grey line will never fail our country.

Very sad day for me.  RWIII has been one of my favorite Razorbacks since he signed, more than anything because you could tell he played for the love of the game.  No one is hurting more now than he is.
Life is too short for grudges and feuds.

Thanks, RW3 for your efforts on and off the field. Thanks for representing the U of A in a classy manner!   All the best!

This and good luck in your future endeavors...

I'm sorry he and his family had to make the decision for him to step away from football. However, I'm very happy that it happened in such a way that it was, indeed, a choice. Many are not so fortunate. I will always be thankful for the many exciting memories he provided on the field and that he is - and always will be - a member of our Razorbacks family.

Heart ... I talked about this with regards to LBs last week.  RWIII has had it in spades while at Arkansas.   So many potentially great players get cut short by giving EVERYTHING on the field.  The fact that he loved the game so much and worked so hard to get back makes this hurt even more.

I hope/know his brothers will rally around him during this darkness.  He is strong enough to channel his gifts elsewhere, but this is where he wanted to be.

Great show of wisdom and restraint for him to walk away.  Nothing may have ever happened again, but tempting fate a 3rd time could have lifelong affects.

You will always be a Hog. Thank you for your efforts and sacrifice.

I think he made the right decision. He will succeed with anything he does. He's not a quitter and I would rather see him healthy rather than taking a chance with another injury. I would love to see him as a coach some day. Looks like we have a future GA, can't wait to see him in action. Good Luck RWIII. :razorback: :razorback: :razorback: :razorback: :razorback: :razorback: :razorback: :razorback: :razorback:

So glad he made this decision and so glad we have the kind of coaches who supported him in it. Makes me proud to be a Razorback. Prayers for RW3 and his family.

Looking forward to Whaley, Williams, Hammonds and Hayden this fall!

Crazy to think he went a full season in the SEC and didn't have another injury.

Exactly what I was thinking. That is almost impossible to believe.

RWIII is a winner at life. He will succeed and be a great ambassador for the U of A. I applaud Coach B for his handling of this, too.

Much love to RWIII for the character he displayed on the field and off. Glad he stepped away. Too much to lose and I am glad he made the tough call. If he had came back and our collective fears were realized by a crippling injury, it would have been a tragedy.

I still remember Haman Moore, a star high school athlete who never walked again after taking a hit in a Friday night football game years ago. Its a part of football that we don't like to think about.
