just a guess but since Covid, I would imagine anyone who owns a department store has taken an arsewhoopin financially

Quote from: Oklahawg on Today at 10:07:16 pmYou are confusing your fandom with the industry impression. I can't help with that.

I spent an hour with one of the guys putting Oklahoma State's football NIL together. They want Pittman if Gundy retires one of these days. Also said that its their understanding Sam could go to other P4 schools if he were to leave, which is why they wanted to nab him now.

Yeah, not exactly Ohio State knocking at your door, but a huge chunk of this board lives in an echo chamber that has drummed up the anti-Pittman narrative. I do get why it exists, but it is magnified a lot. Simply getting perspective from a program that fancies itself as a step-up from UA should matter to a few around here.
Pittman is a mediocre at best game day coach. It's possible he will improve under Petrino's tutelage but he doesn't have an instinct for it.
I've seen a lot of high school games coached better.

Quote from: Leadbelly on Today at 09:50:06 pmBeat Okie Lite, then we'll talk is my approach.

Sad the 2nd game of the year has so much riding on it but it does. After last year it would take a lot of work to turn the season around if we crapped the bed at OSU.

Lose a close game is okay. But get stomped and this team could crumble. I'm not predicting this just saying if it happened.

I'm hopeful we can win a tough close match.

Quote from: bennyl08 on Today at 11:01:49 pmThere's a big difference b/w thinking somebody isn't good at their job and somebody who goes out of their way to both constantly rag on somebody and even make up things to be angry about that aren't true. Whether that actually constitutes 'hate' or something just a run or two short of hate, hogville is full of people with an 'unhealthy amount of dislike' for the man.

What constitutes "full"?

2-3 is about what I count. Considering how many post here worrying about 2-3 is hardly worth it.

Quote from: bennyl08 on Today at 11:11:22 pmThe answer to your question is "never". The 'standard' isn't 6, it's much closer to 7 (see the 6.8 win reg season avg).

Look at Bielema. Long even publicly said before the 2017 season that Bielema needed to get over the hump. Even if the wheels didn't come of the wagon and he went 7-5 again, Bielema still almost assuredly gets fired after that season. 7-5 is essentially our average. If Bielema hadn't allegedly become alcoholic, he probably could have gone 7-5 for a decade if he wanted to, but he was likely never going to hit 10 wins.

Morris won 2 games in back to back seasons and wasn't even allowed to finish his second season.

Pittman is basically right at .500 and if 2020 had it's original schedule, would likely be slightly above, but still right near .500. His seat started to heat up after 2022's disappointment and was red hot after 4-8, but even if he went 6-6 or 7-5, his seat would be uncomfortably warm.

7-5 is our standard. Coaches that don't meet that standard end up getting fired. Coaches that show promise of surpassing that standard will be given time to surpass it so long as there is still sufficient promise that the coach is capable. Hitting that 6-6 and 7-5 regular season is production that can be readily replaced. It's worth giving time to see if they can get to 8+ wins, but if they can't, we won't hang on to them for a long time.

I can live with a standard of 7-5. I think we could even possibly push that to 8-4 if we could snag a coach like Cal. But to do so would require Sam to turn this trend upward. Coaches know they don't have a ton of time to turn something around. Tweaking is about all you can do before the wins come in.

Quote from: Piggy Banks on Today at 11:05:46 pmAmen brother.  Sadly, our fanbase is so shell shocked from years of disappointment that folks are just waiting for the sky to fall. CJC has a process and if history is any indication, it freakin works!  Trust the process folks.  #CalZone #WPS

I think we're all just excited to see who we get. It's like having a new toy at Christmas that you've opened, but you're waiting for your old man to find the batteries so you can play with it.

Quote from: Hogo Piglitz on Today at 09:56:47 pmIn the BB, CM, SP era Arkansas has averaged exactly 5 wins a season 5 not 5.5, 6, not 7, not 8. The standard is 6 and these three haven't even done that, and that is the point when did less than minimum become the standard?
