While doing a web search on an unrelated topic, I came across this article on Atlantic City Race Course from 1995.

I found it very enjoyable and certainly distills the track's ascent and descent in succinct fashion. The one thing it fails to mention is the impact that the legalization of pari mutuel wagering in Pennsylvania had. Liberty Bell, which opened around 1969 or so, siphoned a lot of ACRC's business away. The article mentions competition between ACRC and Monmouth Park, but by the time their dates overlapped the writing was on the wall.

Although they didn't race there this year, the track is still there, and until the wrecking ball comes, there is still a chance of its being resuscitated for live racing.

I have always heard that Liberty Bell was a cheaters paradise.  Wish I had been there to bet a little.
