Frankel and Animal Kingdom are out as choices for this year. They will not breed to a 1st timer.

Moody said the list is down to 6, with 5 being in Australia and 1 is elsewhere, but would not say where.

GoHogs1091

I wonder who will be the "1 elsewhere."  Perhaps, it will be to Kentucky and to Awesome Again.

i've heard a lot of stuff on this forum but that takes the cake

the problem with awesome again is 2 fold. first of all his offspring are about as durable as paper bags, i.e ghostzapper who is my fav all time horse but was a fragile as all get out, and more imiportantly he's the most hit and miss sire on earth. he can get you a world class (dirt) horse but that is 1 out of 100. the other 99 are going to be 5-10k claimers.  there are no 50-60k awesome again claimers or awesome again allowance horses they either are graded stakes horses or 5k claimers. and there are a lot more 5k claimers than graded stakes horses

on top of that, he might be the worst turf sire in the hisotry of mankind lol and that's all they run on down there is turf.

frank stronach owns awesome again the man who owns magna and the vast majority of awesome agains offspring are from his own mares, that no one buys at sales, i.e ginger punch was one that RNA'ed for 25k and he said screw it i will keep her

The best stallion in the world right now is probably fasnet rock in Australia whose stud fee is 4x what awesome again's is right now (250k USD). you could make a case for Galileo frankel's sire as well.

the only american sire who could snif that title right now is Barnardini and he's not close, we really don't have any world class stallions right now

that would be too much inbreeding nayway with her being 3x4x4 northern dancer and awesome again being from the northern dancer sire line

she's a tricky mating beucase of her bloodlines she has a siht load of northern dancer up close.

Awesome Again sires good Turf Runners.  One of his Progeny, Awesome Gem, was 2nd in the Grade 1 Eddie Read Handicap, which was a 9 Furlong Turf race.  Additionally, Awesome Again sired the following Turf winners on that list I posted.

HOTSTUFANTHENSOME – $756,743
(dam by Turkoman)
1st Cliff Hanger S. G3 (8.5F, Turf)
1st Mac Diarmida H. G3 (NCR) (11F, Turf)
1st Elkwood S. (NCR) (8.5F, Turf), etc.

RUMOR HAS IT - $303,316
(dam by Time For A Change)
1st Kentucky Cup Turf G3 (12F, Turf), etc.

PINK CHAMPAGNE - $145,957
(dam by Known Fact)
1st Natalma S. G3 (8F, Turf)

Therefore, Awesome Again has sired a Turf winner who won at 8 Furlongs, 8.5 Furlongs, 11 Furlongs, and 12 Furlongs.

Awesome Again's Stud Fee has been as high as $150,000 (in 2007).  With the downturn in the U.S. Economy, and the resulting downturn in Stud Fees in the U.S. Thoroughbred Breeding Industry, it can explain why Awesome Again's Stud Fee is currently only $75,000 (which is a bargain).  With Oxbow winning the Preakness, it won't be surprising if Awesome Again's Stud Fee goes up to around $90,000 or $100,000 next year.

As I mentioned in my post, there is no other active stallion who has sired more Breeders' Cup Champions, Multi-Millionaires, or $3 Million Earners than Awesome Again.

Here is a couple of quotes about Awesome Again.

"...it is the sheer brilliance of his best offspring that ranks (Awesome Again) among the most important and successful contemporary stallions."- John P. Sparkman

"I love training the offspring of Awesome Again. He is a hell of a stallion. He throws a very nice individual. Their soundness goes along way"- leading California trainer Craig Dollase

this is what breeders and owners look at when it comes to stats

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/thoroughbred-breeding/sire-lists/turf

no one cares about 1 or 2 horses when you sire 120-130 a year.  the odds are, your horse is going to be a pretty avg horse and on avg, awesome again sucks

awesome again is the 125 ranked turf sire in the country right now. that's freaking pathetic.

his leading money earner for the year is a horse named he's a cylone who has won a whopping 32k on the turf this year.

i'm not even saying awesome again isn't a good sire. he's a great sire. he's not the "best int he world" though. to show you how bad of a turf sire he is, he's the third ranked sire in te country overall as you can see below.

lol, his offspring have earned 4.1 million dollars htis year and all but 32k of it have come on dirt lol.

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/thoroughbred-breeding/sire-lists/general

he's a good sire. he's not a world class sire. he damn sure isn't a world clas TURF sire and he's not a good fit for BC anyway blood wise. and considering they run their horses in aussie land 2-3 times a month he's too brittle of a sire

cbhawg03

Exceed and Excel is who BC will be bred to this year. Thoughts?

songofthesword

horse will def be a sprinter.
