I like the Brad Penny, Saito, Smoltz, and Baldelli signings because there is very little long term risk. If they work out then they are absolute steals, if they do not work then very little is wasted in them. I'm very happy with what the Red Sox were able to pull off with these signings.

ErieHog

The only reason I don't hope they go 0-162 is that they play the Yankees, who I'd rather see go 0-162.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I'm just glad that most "other" fans hate the Yankees a little more than they hate the Red Sox.

I think it is funney, the pinstripes are having problems selling thier high priced seates. If you build it they will come?...The yankes spent 250000000 on free agents.Even thou the bosoxs are normally second in spending,I hope there is some kind of sallery cap soon.I miss the royals, pirates, being a player. The rays are a one, two year fluke.

It is beginning to even itself out.

That's because of the "fair weather Red Sox fans" - the ones who came on board when they started winning and they became fashionable. Most of us old timers aren't too obnoxious -  we remember well the years of "hell", the blown opportunities over and over again. The night they finally won the World Series all I could think of was my Dad and how I wish he had lived to see it. Such joy. Dang, I get goosebumps thinking about it.

Braves are my team, but i root for the Red Sox unless they are playing us of course.  Good luck this season & beat the **** out of those damn Yankees...

Well, you and I have something in common. I like the Braves, too and I'm anxious to see how Smoltz does for the Sox this year. Man, it was a beautiful thing to watch the Braves when they had Glavine, Smoltz and Maddox all in their prime.

Ahhh, the good ole days. It hurt to see Smoltz go, but at least he went to a good team & I hope he does well for you guys...

Been a Sox fan for 41 years, lots of heartache over that time, but the last few years have been absolutely great!! I'll be going down to Arlington July 20th to watch my boys take it to the Rangers, seats right behind home plate, I can't wait!!! Been making this trip for 6 years now.

hogblade

Red Sox fan for 31 years! I've been to Texas and KC for 8 of the last 9 years, but sadly can't make it at all this year. I really wish I could.

I've gone to Texas the last 2 years - I really like The Ballpark at Arlington.
Haven't been to Fenway in about 15 years. I would really like to see the changes they've made.

Fellow Red Sox fans if you have Dish - NESN is Channel 434.
(Don't know whether this is standard or somes with the Fox Sports package)
I'm watching Red Sox pregame right now - and hoping the game won't be blacked out. I will find out shortly.

BLACKED OUT !!!!!
Darn - oh well I enjoyed watching the pregame.

He hasn't been the same since the wrist issues and losing Manny protecting him in the batting order. I think the Sox need to add another bat in the lineup so Papi can get some better pitches to hit.

6 GAMES!!!!! Why does Beckett get 6 games for following through on his pitch when Abreau stepped out after he already started. Time should have never been granted there and now Becks is out for 6 games. What a load of crap.

Wakefield's still got it.
Pitched a 4-hitter / had a no hitter going into the eight.
Man, the Sox needed one this bad.

I love day games. I get to follow them while at work. And I think I can learn to like Nick Green at short while Lowrie is rehabbing.

I think an inside the park HR is more exciting because it has time to develop and the anticipation builds where a steal of home is a quick and sudden occurence.

It was quick. He was already at home before the viewing audience knew what was going on. Caught the cameramen off guard. Took them forever to show the whole play develop.
