... Kelly Melton, Lee's 10-year-old friend who's battling leukemia. Lee and UK Football players Max Strong and Landon Foster have been friends with Kelly for a few years, visiting him in the hospital and hanging out with him during free time.

Kelly's not the only one; there are countless stories of Lee visiting kids in the hospital or reaching out to help others.

I remember asking Lee during the 2014 NCAA Tournament what it meant to him to hang out with kids who are suffering from illnesses like Kelly's, and he got a little frustrated, telling me he doesn't hang out with Kelly because he's a sick kid, he hangs out with Kelly because he's his friend.

Former Tennessee forward Ray Kasongo is transferring to Iowa State, according to multiple reports.

Kasongo spent one season in Knoxville after arriving as a transfer from the College of Southern Idaho. The 6-foot-8 Canada native played sparingly in 22 games for the Volunteers last season [about 5 - 6 minutes per game].

Michigan has landed Kentucky transfer Charles Matthews, his high school coach Gary DeCesare told SNY.tv.

6-foot-6 Matthews will sit the 2016-17 season and then have three years to play three.

Matthews was one of four Wildcats to play in all 36 games for UK during the 2015-16 season. He averaged 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in helping the Wildcats claim the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament championships.

He played about 10-12 minutes per game.

Zach Hodskins, who gained fame for his basketball ability despite only having one hand, is no longer on the Florida basketball roster.

According to Onlygators.com, a university official confirmed that Hodskins, who was a preferred walk-on, is no longer with the team. Onlygators.com also reported that Hodskins was seeking more playing time.

JUCO forward Tyrek Coger will not be allowed to enroll at Ole Miss -- even though he had committed to Andy Kennedy's Rebels -- because of an SEC rule that prohibits league members from accepting JUCO transfers who weren't enrolled at their previous school for at least three semesters.

This is the same rule that once prevented Georgia's Mark Fox from recruiting Georgia native Jae Crowder. Crowder, of course, enrolled at Marquette after junior college, became a star and this season averaged 14.2 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Boston Celtics.

A rare recruiting restriction is hindering SEC basketball growth

Among the priorities within the football-dominated league is improving men's basketball. One thing standing in the way is the SEC making recruiting harder than it needs to be with a restriction in place that prevents its programs from enrolling a certain type of junior college prospect.

Kansas would have been Newman's landing spot out of HS had he not gone to MSU. Bill Self, Jerrance Howard, etc recruited him heavily.

Newman is 2nd transfer Kansas has landed from Mississippi in last year. Fmr Ole Miss C Dwight Coleby (& Newman's AAU teammate) is a Jayhawk.

Per transfer rules, Newman sits this yr, plays 17-18. & stop the questions of whether he bolts for NBA after sit-out year. That won't happen
