Send it to the Louisiana Grand Jury. They are very practiced at viewing video of LSU players beating people unconscious.

And finding them innocent anyway.

Meantime, in a fit of anger, Les is capable of suspending this kid for...oh...the first four plays of a game.

He now has the necessary "legal experience" to be named "starter for life" at LSU.

Steef

Yawn.

Suspended huh? Didn't they kick the kicking QB out of school? For like...four weeks. Until whoops! They needed him back and he was starting again.

LSU RB Jeremy Hill punched victim from behind, celebrated, police report says

A cell phone video shows LSU running back Jeremy Hill punching a man from behind and then celebrating with high fives when a second unidentified man knocked the victim out with another punch, according to a Baton Rouge Police report on the incident.

Hill, 20, LSU's leading rusher last season was arrested for simple battery early Saturday morning after the fight, which occurred outside Reggie's, an off-campus bar in Tigerland.

The second suspect has not been identified but police are continuing to search for him. Hill has not been formally charged by the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's office.

The victim, Connor Baldridge, told Baton Rouge Police officer Clifford Crouch he was struck in the head two or three times and remembers waking up on the ground after Crouch arrived on the scene at approximately 2:13 a.m., according to the report.

Crouch watched a video provided by witness Casey Franz, who recorded the incident on his cell phone. In the report, Crouch says the video clearly shows Baldridge get up off the ground and walk away from the two suspects. Hill then punched Baldridge behind the left ear and Baldridge was then punched again by the second suspect, Crouch said in the report.

Hill and the second man can be seen in the video giving each other high fives and flaunting in front of Baldridge, the report says. The video operator can be heard saying "Jeremy Hill punching people."

With assistance from LSU campus police, Crouch located Hill near his residence at the West Campus Apartments and arrested him. Hill admitted he had been in Tigerland but was not involved in the fight. Hill continued to deny his participation in the incident even after being shown the video.

Hill's attorney, Marci Blaize, did not return calls to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, but she told the Advocate in an email that, "Obviously, Jeremy was there as the video indicates. However, there is most likely more to the story than what is contained in a 30-second video."

The attorney for LSU running back Jeremy Hill says a brief mobile phone video showing Hill punching another man does not show important events that precipitated the fight.

"There's no denying he's on the video, but the video is 15 seconds long and certainly doesn't tell you everything that happened that evening," Marci Blaize said Thursday. "In my experience and the cases I've had, there's usually a reason why a person will strike another individual and I can tell you that's the case here."

Blaize said her client was heckled about his past legal trouble before the part of the fight caught on video.

Meanwhile, Baton Rouge police Lt. Don Kelly said Thursday that a second, unidentified suspect, who knocked the victim out after Hill's initial punch, does not appear to be an LSU football player.

"We're making progress toward identifying a second suspect, and while I cannot rule out some connection to the LSU athletic department, based on what we know now, there does not apppear to be one," Kelly said.

Blaize said she has witness interviews lined up in the next few days and is in the process of establishing a more complete picture of what precipitated the altercation.

According to police, Hill punched the alleged victim in the side of the head. Then the second, unidentified suspect -- who Kelly said could be charged with second-degree battery -- knocked the alleged victim unconscious.

The video, which is considered evidence and not public record at this time, also showed Hill exchanging "high fives" with the second suspect and others after the man they punched was on the ground, Kelly said.

Blaize, however, said Hill does not know the other suspect.

"The video is clear that they approach the victim at different times," Blaize said. "They're not working in tandem. You can tell they don't know each other."

Police have said Hill, before being shown the video, told officers he was in the vicinity of the bar where the fight took place early Saturday morning, but denied being involved a fight. Then when police showed Hill the video, provided by a witness, Hill still denied being involved and also said he did not know who the other suspect was, Kelly said.

While Blaize did not dispute the content of the video, she said she could not speak for Hill on the matter of what exactly he said to the arresting officers and declined to speculate about why the officers interpreted his statements as they did.

The other suspect involved in a bar fight that included LSU running back Jeremy Hill was arrested Friday. Baton Rouge Police arrested Robert Bayardo, 20, 4000 Lake Beau Pre Blvd., and charged him with felony second degree battery.

Bayardo was transported and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

LSU announced Monday that Hill was suspended from the football team indefinitely. As a freshman last season, Hill led the Tigers with 755 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns.

Hill could have his suspension revoked and will likely be called back before District Judge Bonnie Jackson for a review of his probation.

So according to the attorney apparently her thug client did indeed strike the person in question. However, we justify that by explaining the victim said something about Hill's original conviction. So...apparently that's going to be the justification for the assault. It seems to me that if that the case Hill would have been far better off just holding his anger and letting it go. However, because that's how they do it at LSU he should be commended on his restraint.

While it may not be an official "arrest" let's not forget the the "boo boo" bear that the Cards recently took a major gamble on. Then again, that only involved so many failed drug tests that even ole Leslie had to finally say "enough is (believe it or not) enough".

Hill's situation requires a heavy hand. In the end, Hill and LSU football will be better off because of it

Spare the rod and spoil the program

During his brief tenure at LSU, Jeremy Hill has displayed a rare ability to run over, through and away from opposing defenders. Unfortunately, the star runner hasn't shown the same elusiveness with the law.

He's now earned the dubious distinction of simultaneously being on probation and the early Heisman Trophy watch lists for 2013.

His inclusion on the latter list is now tenuous at best.

If Hill is found guilty, he could see jail time because conditions of his probation mandate he "refrain from all criminal conduct."

Miles needs to make a statement here and a strong one. Stiff punishment is required, beyond the requisite early-morning suicides and stadium stairs. A slap-on-the-wrist sit-down for a game or two won't be enough.

This isn't about Hill anymore. It's about LSU football, which has generated an inordinate amount of negative headlines in the past 18 months.

Is the LSU football program out of control? Hardly. Hill's arrest is disturbing, no doubt. It's the sixth in the past three years and that doesn't include the incidents involving Simon, Mathieu, Jefferson, Karnell Hatcher and Derrick Bryant after they left the program.

After opening strong, the writer attempts to rationalize by comparing the number of arrests of LSU players to those of other schools.

Miles reiterated last week that nothing had changed on the status of suspended running back Jeremy hill, who was arrested for simple battery April 27. The East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's office is still investigating the case and has yet to make formal charges. Hill could be in line for jail time because he was on probation at the time of the arrest.

"We're going to be fine there," he said. "Alfred Blue, Kenny Hilliard, Terrence Magee are really quality backs. There's nobody any better than those three."

LSU RB Jeremy Hill charged with simple battery

QuoteJeremy Hill was charged with simple battery on Monday by the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's office in connection with a bar fight that took place on April 27, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported.

Hill will enter his plea during his arraignment on Friday. In the meantime, the rising sophomore remains under indefinite suspension courtesy of LSU head coach Les Miles, who plans to let the legal process run its course before taking any further action.

Video shows two people running up from behind from either side and striking the victim once each.

One is an lsu football player who receives a 6 month suspended sentence for simple battery and a curfew that is not allowed to interfere with his football activities.

The other guy hasn't gone to court yet but has been charged with 2nd degree battery.  Must not be an lsu football player I take it.

Got to hand it to the Baton Rouge justice system.  They don't even pretend there's not a double standard when it comes to lsu sports.  The judge expressed a very impressive knowledge of lsu football history, I'm sure he's a big fan.  He requested weekly updates on Hill's progress.

Yes, this is the same guy that is already on probation for a sex crime with a 14 year old.
(the lsu player, not the judge)

Some are saying that he should be suspended from playing for lsu this season, but that doens't make sense to me, as he would seem to fit right in with that bunch.  I think he's the perfect representative for the school and the State.

Hill's probation hearing on the sex conviction is Aug 16th.  Will be interesting

He should be put away for 6 months IMO. I really really hope him and his friend both get blinded and face stomped for this incident. Its not only bad, but he laughs about it. Worthless POS!!!! Hope some guy in the slammer forces him to go down on him, when hes given jail time for that.

2nd guy caused 'serious bodily injury' to get 2nd degree.  Basically Hill didn't hit him hard enough to get charged with 2nd degree, which is a felony.

What I wonder is what led up to this? Dude was on the ground when the vid started.  Staggering drunk?  High?  Been hit before the vid?

Here is La law on 2nd degree:

§34.1.  Second degree battery

A.  Second degree battery is a battery when the offender intentionally inflicts serious bodily injury; however, this provision shall not apply to a medical provider who has obtained the consent of a patient.

B.  For purposes of this Section, the following words shall have the following meanings:

(1)  "Active member of the United States Armed Forces" shall mean an active member of the United States Army, the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force, the United States Coast Guard, or the National Guard.

(2)  "Disabled veteran" shall mean a veteran member of the United States Army, the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force, the United States Coast Guard, or the National Guard who is disabled as determined by the United States Department of Veteran Affairs.

(3)  "Serious bodily injury" means bodily injury which involves unconsciousness, extreme physical pain or protracted and obvious disfigurement, or protracted loss or impairment of the function of a bodily member, organ, or mental faculty, or a substantial risk of death.

C.  Whoever commits the crime of second degree battery shall be fined not more than two thousand dollars or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both.  At least one year of the sentence imposed shall be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence if the offender knew or should have known that the victim is an active member of the United States Armed Forces or is a disabled veteran and the second degree battery was committed because of that status.

That's embarrassing for LSU, and the fact that the University puts up with it says volumes for their athletic programs.  Thuggery...at it's finest.  Nothing like delivering a forearm shiver to the back of someone's head and then acting like you accomplished something noteworthy.  It does not surprise me one bit to see LSU players or fans acting like that.  Despicable.

Can't win in the SEC without trouble makers. The Alabama kids robbing people recently. Michael Dyer, Dakota Mosely and the spice incident. The Cam Newton scandal. Chris Fairley going out there and getting two DWIs in a week. Ronaldo McClain threatening people when with Alabama and with the Raiders. The Gators won two titles with a thug like Aaron Hernandez. What Hill did was minor and I think this topic is terrible topic and must be removed.

But, if you're a WR for the Georgia. Bulldogs, you get a 5 game suspension for selling a T-shirt.

In fairness to the NCAA, they did ease up on the T-shirt violators for Ohio State.

In this case, its a good thing the victim wasn't seriously injured. They would have had to make Hill a coach. Or maybe Governor.

I am more focused on the double standard of justice that exists in B.R. which is the root cause for why these violent acts continue to take place down there.  The players know they can get a little violent and will certainly be given a second chance.

It's going to eventually lead to one of these violent outbursts actually leading to a death or a severe disablement.
