Maybe it's just me but when Bobby posts up in the paint, is his footwork a little off?
I really can't describe it.  When Corliss caught the ball, boom!  Spin move to the basket with quick feet.

I think Bobby needs to come back ONE more year to work on his footwork.

Sure because Arkansas has that great footwork coach.  What's his name? ... Ummm...  David Lee?  No that's not it...

Look, Bobby has alot of polishing to do.  All of which will be better done with NBA coaches.  I would love for him to stay, but only for purely selfish reasons.

Corliss was one of the best college basketball players EVER. Cut the kid some slack will ya, he's got some things to work on sure, but he's a great player and will only get better with his motor

Losing gracefully isn't taught in second-tier programs. See Arkansas, Cincinnati, et al.

I also thinks he needs another year here.  They don't waste time working on the basics in the NBA.  Portis is still getting used to his own frame, and one year at that age is huge!  One year of frustration in the NBA can get in your head and ruin your career.

There really seems to be a Clash of opinions on what bobby should do...

Holy darn. That is all.

Man I'm sorry if offended anyone about Bobby.  Let's get this straight real quick.  That is just my personal opinion.  Bobby trusts Corliss and  if Corliss says go then I say go.  I'm not selfish, it's just my opinion.  I say the U of A needs to take out an insurance policy and keep him and Qualls one more year.
Selfish? Yes I am.

You do know that if Allen from NLR would see the light and be a hog, Bobby
stay, Beard and Hannah's in the lineup with Qualls what do you say about next year?   Just sayin... and dreaming.

BP must move up his draft stock or he should come back and move up.  He can double his money through life of contract if he does.

HSVhogfan2

NBA players make their money on their second contract, not their first.

How many of these threads will keep popping up? Whatever flaws Bobby has in his game are going to be improved by being able to spend 8-10 hours in the gym as a professional improving them. As much as so many want to find a reason for him to stay another year, he's GONE after this season.

ErieHog

Post footwork isn't his problem.   He's not a post player, especially as a pro.    Coaches at the professional level will eat him alive for trying to play in the paint.

His ceiling is athleticism, and that's not changing by staying.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Well, Most don't make it to their second contract. But yes the one who do make more money then.

I think Bobby has a pretty low ceiling as an NBA player. I love him as a Hog and hope he becomes a rich man playing ball, but I don't see an NBA starter in him. I think he'll have more of a backup post, or journeyman type of career. Which is not bad!

I think his lack of athleticism will really hamper him.

The thing I am interested in, is what is the draft class like for bigs this year vs. next? If next year seems to be a softer draft class of big men, then he may be money ahead to wait it out and get drafted higher.

I selfishly hope so!

What was Tim Duncan's ceiling?

Obviously a once in a generation player but are their games not kinda similar?

It's amazing how hard Duncan will bang though despite his docile nature and not exactly looking like a weight room addict.

Their skill level in shooting is similar; the difference is that Duncan out of college was a -much-better athlete, a significantly more refined passer, and a developed post presence that played in a league that still rewarded that, early in his career.     He's also a better on ball defender than Bobby, and still has at least as good  lateral quickness, despite his advanced age.

I guess I do forget how athletic he was. Not necessarily explosive but an elite athlete nonetheless. He was a world class swimmer early on.

He's not as sure of an NBA bet as everyone thinks. I agree with you there, but it's pretty much a certainty he's gone, whether it be to the D league or overseas.

he's going to be drafted in the 1st round, I don't know how much more of a stone cold lock you you need.

Bobby?   He's a NBA lifer.  Mind, people will call him a failure if he's not a starter-- nevermind his game is tailor made for a decade or more in the league.

Are you serious?

And just to clarify, I find his biggest weekness to be his hands.  They are a little clumsy, but from what I have heard his hands grew three inches in the past three years.  Which means his hand coordination is probably going to improve.

I just meant where he winds up. I know he'll be first round, but that doesn't mean he's on a roster and starting.

You're probably right. I guess he'll only get stronger and learn more tricks as he goes.

We're just spoiled having him as a sophomore. People forget how young he is and how big he is.

80% of the guys in CB his size can barely dribble and catch the ball on the move. Let alone hit the jump shots and range that he does.

WBOBO

I know he's going first round and yes you don't get ball handling skills and a 20 ft jumper like he has and not go first round, but damn I'm selfish.  I look at Michael Jordan and Larry Bird and Magic, and so on and so on and all stayed at least 3 years in college.  They all turned out pretty successful at the next level and beyond in their post season careers.

I just don't want him turning into a Jarnell Stokes, bouncing back and forth between D league and a NBA roster.  I think one more year in college will give
him the maturity he needs to get to the next level.

I guess I'm saying I don't want Bobby put in a Jarnell Stokes situation.
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.

Erie,
on Duncan he has better footwork than Bobby.  If you were a chick would ya rather dance with Duncan or Bobby?  Also Duncan has good court vision.

He's 2-3 inches taller than Stokes, and has an identifiable professional basketball talent beyond 'toughness';  he has very little in common with Stokes.
