Yep, and we all have to deal with the negative nonsense as well. Like I said, it's a 2 way street. Seems pretty clear to me, not sure why u can't understand that. That's the last thing I'll say
Is it really being negative if a person is happy with the results but thinks there are a couple of areas we need to improve on before the SEC tourney?  Interesting take on that.

how long do you think it takes ? 4 years is enough . next year will likely be a step back. maybe big time .
You just made my point, year 4 hasn't even played out and some want failure so bad, they already have the team regressing next year without knowing who is going and who is coming.

Are they?  I must have missed all of those threads.
basically every thread was negative during and after the game

The real reason people are upset is not the record or even really the losses. It's the way we look when we lose. We have looked AMAZING at times this year, and sometimes we look like an average high school team. Its more frustration of knowing we aren't playing to our capabilities than anything.

and your fix would be ?

Not much.   You might change some of the minute rotations a little, and bench a certain player who loves jawing and staring down his own makes,  every time he does it, but beyond that,  just make sure the offense runs through Portis, and that laziness will earn pine time.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

As I said earlier, where are all the threads for the other side?  All I see is thread after thread telling us all to shut up and be happy.  I am happy but there are still areas we can improve.  I keep forgetting we can't talk about stuff like that.  As long as threads like this continue to be created, I will continue to respond to every one I see.

Those threads come in the hundreds after our few losses this season, you are on here enough to know that. Those posters all magically disappear when we are winning.

I don't think many on here have a problem with pointing out weakness, hell I don't. Our defense has been atrocious at times and must be improved for great things to happen. The fact is though, regardless of style, we are winning, and have beaten some good teams at home and on the road. The other great thing going for us, no bad losses at this point. Our worst rpi loss was to a Clemson team on the road by 3, who continues to stay in the rpi top 100, when we played arguably one of our worst games of the year.

Cresthog

If we keep winning, LSU game could easily be a sell out.

The U of A marketing department is a stone age joke though so I doubt it.

And the other group comes out and makes it just as crappy.  So it doesn't stop.

Part of it is big picture vs small picture.  If you've ever had the privilege ;) of sitting through one of those corporate trainings on different personalities and how people view things differently, you know some are strategic and big picture while others are executional and handle things better in the short term and one at a time.  Nothing wrong with either.  Problems come in when people can't respect other viewpoints.

You and I agree on a player.  Will be interesting to see how he carries that over to the next level and who gives him an adjustment.

I agree and the atmosphere is seriously lacking. Seems like a bunch of people just sitting around waiting for something to happen. Sure miss Jim Robken.

The hubris of some on this board is comical. Especially when coupled with their over-simplication of the subject that they are talking about.

Agreed. And it's equally as bad with the "haters" as it is the "huggers."

It's much more complicated than people try to make it and there is a mixed bag of good and bad right now.

Always been my biggest problem with many on here.  Speak your mind and have your beliefs but stop constantly trying to convince others to see things your way or going after them and their beliefs if they do not.  I usually stay away from here on game day, win or lose, because nothing good is happening here.

I agree our defense is lacking. And i have seen no signs of change. Mike continues to run the press when teams are beating it and we are not getting the turnovers we need to make it worth it. We also need to make sure and take care of the ball. 18 turnovers isn't going to cut it!

Yup because if it is not working, it is putting more pressure on our guys and causing more fatigue, than it is on theirs.  If it is working then it is just the oppoiste.  Seems like we see that mostly on the road and sometimes at home.  Wish we would go to a situational press and otherwise ensure we are back and in position for our half-court defense.  Get on a run or face a team that does not seem ready for it, then press...press...press.

The more I see it, the less convinced I am that he'll get a shot at the NBA.   He's got overseas pro written all over his behavior, even if potential developmental NBA guy, written on his game.

Does Qualls remind anyone of Sonny Weems?

Seems like their shooting has developed similarly, although I don't recall Weems ballhandling and defense that much.

which one ? sorry might as well point it out now, I'm thinking you talking KM.  I really think after Portis and Qualls talent falls off in bunches. Qualls don't play great defense, in fact nobody does outside of portis.

our biggest shortcoming is lack of a Pat Bradley type 3 point shooter.  I don't like the over playing on defense giving away free points sometimes.

Just hoping we get enough wins for a shot at the tournament.

Uh- no, not Madden.    A guy who likes to dunk a whole lot.

Athletically similar. Weems was way more smooth and definitely a better ball-handler. More consistent shooter as well.

Weems was a much more polished player off of the bounce, and didn't have half the court shut off by a lack of vision.  His handles were significantly better.   Weems went the JUCO route, and was only here for two years.   Weems wasn't quite the same athlete, but was a better off ball-defender and took fewer gambles.

I'd argue about consistency shooting. If we're comparing Qualls Junior year and Weems Senior year yes. But Junior to Junior, I think they're pretty close no?

And Weems absolutely was smoother, that's the one thing about Qualls, he thinks he can shake and bake but it winds up just looking awkward and the defender never hardly takes the bait.

If Qualls would learn to simplify his motions, use pump fakes, his eyes, etc, he'd be deadly and damn near unstoppable.Steph Curry is a master of it, although a bad  comparison since he is now one of the best players on the planet.

Qualls really really needs to stay one more year to have much hope of a solid money making career in basketball IMO. He also needs to rebound better, with his length and jumping ability, he could make a paycheck on grabbing 10 a game alone.

Qualls went to that LeBron camp over the summer and supposedly had his ball handling fixed and was supposed to be more of a finesse player. He's gotten better shooting-wise but his ball-handling still leaves a lot to be desired. It was horrible the other night.

I get scared watching him go full speed at the goal, even with no one in front of him.

It's bad. He needs to do some Pistol Pete drills for the entire summer.
