Any news on him?  Did he play in any of the recent tournaments?  thanks..

He is playing with the Wings Elite in the EYBL, and they've played 4 games going 3-1. He is averaging 4.2 pts and 4.2 rpg on 70% shooting.

Thanks,  I like Smith but he still needs to show me he knows how to score against high level competition.

Unfortunately, it does seem as if Smith is a bit of a project as this point. Still, we are going to have a lot of scholarships to fill in 2016 (especially if we don't fill them all for 2015). I'd take him on as a project.

If those numbers don't go up quickly, Hogville is going to write him off within weeks.
I spent most of my life drankin', gamblin', and chasing women, the rest I just wasted.

After watching his tape, I like the kids game but he seems to lack an edge or have a bit of fire in his game. Almost seems nonchalant, but I can see him becoming a pretty good college player.

Hard to say since I haven't seen the tape from the EBL games, but knowing how the Wings like to get up and run and are a guard oriented team I could see how he doesn't get touches, despite that high percentage.  I could also see them giving him less minutes than some of these guys.  The people that are getting the higher percentage of shots are all guys you've probably heard of:
Malik Monk - 16.8 PPG
Jalen Johnson - 10 PPG
Eric Curry - 9.2 PPG

Johnson and Curry are getting more RPG too, but not by a lot.  Don't know the minute distribution.

AAU is guard oriented. A lot of chunkers out there.

WarPig88

He has good hands and court vision. Two things that really can't be taught.

I would like to see more explosiveness out of a guy that thin though.

Not a bad looking player though.

He doesn't look 6'10 ..... Maybe 6'8 or so

But, but, but he has Portis potential!!

I think he will turn out just fine. Get in the weight room and see what happens.

I think he does have BP POTENTIAL...BP blew up between his JR and SR seasons. IIRC, Portis shot up the rankings around his JR season. I remember watching him as a soph and although he was tall, you didn't look at him and think "sure fire 1st rounder". Actually, you probably would have been wiser if you had wondered if he would be effective on the D1 level.

Smith has all the physical tools to be a really good player in time. That may be next year, or a couple years from now. He needs to add mass/get stronger, and I absolutely agree...He needs to start putting up some better #'s soon.

I don't know one way or another, but I'd say that 90% of guys listed at 6'10" are actually 6'8".

I can say that he has legit SEC height for a PF. You won't look at him and think he needs to be taller.
