Predicting the win total ceiling, floor for Texas A&M in 2024

by: Thomas Goldkamp

QuoteToday it's time to take a look at Texas A&M.

They both agreed the ceiling for Texas A&M is quite high, though the floor is low enough that there's a wide range of possible outcomes:

CEILING: 10 wins, College Football Playoff appearance
Texas A&M's ceiling is almost certainly a product of some serious recruiting in the last few years. The Aggies aren't hurting for talent, even if it hasn't necessarily been developed at the college level just yet.

FLOOR: 5-7 regular season
If things don't go well for the Aggies this fall, there's probably one area of the team that will have come up a little short.

But just in general the roster may not be as good as many in College Station are hoping. That was the consensus Bellaire got in speaking to industry colleagues.

I just wonder how long the golden goose is going to keep laying eggs.  Salaries, revenue, etc. keep increasing as eyes keep disappearing.  The NC championship game drew less than 15 million people this season, which is typical now. Our NC game against Duke drew 33 million.  I get concentration of viewers in a dispersed environment, but at some point gravity takes over.

Predicting the win total ceiling, floor for Oklahoma Sooners in 2024

by: Alex Weber

QuoteCeiling: CFP berth
Andy Staples declared that "Oklahoma is a big mystery right now" and he could see any range of outcomes for the Sooners this fall, including a playoff appearance. "My ceiling is CFP berth and I believe anything in between."

Floor: 6-6
For as great as Oklahoma's roster is in other areas, Staples and Bellaire really believe that offensive line could be the killer, especially if they are getting beat up early on to send Arnold running for his life.

Quote from: Arkansas94 on Today at 11:12:42 amI'm not. Let's say we add that big and guard. That would give us 9 guys
Just a rough estimate
Davis-32
Aido-28
Adou-24
Fland-24
Knox-24
Transfer big (Hawkins/Pryor)-28
Transfer Guard (Wagner)-24
Big Z-16

That would be all of the rotational minutes when healthy. With Z on the short end and Richmond (or Knox) on the outside. Don't want to create chemistry issues.

I'm more optimistic about Z.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Quote from: SwineFusion on Today at 11:33:34 amUh, no. There is money being transferred from AD accounts to general UA accounts for financial aid. They do get a break in that out-of-state athletes are charged the same rate as in-state kids, but they are paying the school for those kids. For fiscal year 2023, the amount transferred from the AD to the university was $12.1 million, which does not include cost of attendance payments. The athletic department also transferred $1.5 million to the university to cover things like tuition waivers (which are those discounts I mentioned earlier) and work study expenditures. The university's report to the NCAA is here:

https://arkansasrazorbacks.com/pdf/athletics/ncaa-membership/2022-23.pdf

Interesting that we're paying more on interest and fees for athletic facilities than we pay for scholarships. $17.1 million went for facility costs. Also spent $5 million on feeding our athletes, which is separate from the financial aid stuff.

The AD has said a full scholarship costs $60,000 a year. But that's everything -- tuition, housing, food, support services.

So if they cut a scholarship are all those costs going down 60k? Professors going to take a pay cut? Admin staff?

Quote from: philiphog on Today at 11:58:25 amAny thoughts to the premise of Nate actually is a good hitting coach (see his first 3 years) but only as long as he has the right recruits. I haven't looked but I'm guessing some of the guys he coached during his first 3 years where Vitello's. What is potentially being exposed now is the real issue which is his lack of recruiting offensive dudes.
Would be interesting to go back and see how many hits/misses weve had offensively after Vitellos guys were off campus.

Predicting the win total ceiling, floor for Kentucky in 2024

by: Nick Kosko

QuoteKentucky has a very interesting ceiling and floor this coming season, according to On3's Andy Staples and Cody Bellaire.

The ceiling and floor are close together, but that's a good and bad thing.

Ceiling: 9-3 regular season
Can the Wildcats have a lot of success this season? Sure they can. But Kentucky has a brutal scheduled (sic) in the SEC.

Floor: Go 6-6 in the regular season
Bellaire doesn't have high expectations of Kentucky, but it's at least a team that's going to be competitive. How many wins does that exactly translate to though?

"Like I think there's a world in which this team can pretty comfortably lose five games this year," Bellaire said. "And I say comfortably lose in the sense where you look at the matchup and you're like, well, they weren't supposed to win that one. I think there's five games on the schedule where you say that This team could go .500 Andy, I think that's very realistic."

He won't buy them, but he will rent them for a year or two. LSU has plenty of money and the ambulance chasers are doling out the cash. Hell, Jay Johnson didn't win that National Championship last year, it was the billboard lawyers.
