Quote from: Johnnie5 on Today at 08:22:03 amMy guess is Cal has seen freshmen guards can be elite as freshmen but when it comes to bigs usually the best in the Nation are experienced 3 or 4 years players. From the looks of things he is still gonna recruit the big time freshmen guards but use the portal to fill out the front court. Inreally hope we get somto cyril still, dude is gonna be a rebounding monster, probaly not a one and done so wouod get him multiple years.
Some of his best freshman have been bigs.

It shouldn't be. But the athletic department certainly is.

Quote from: Hog_Fink on Today at 07:59:58 amLiam still not committed to UConn
Hopefully we end up w that visit
Get him on campus and make magic happen

On April 12th reports came out that Liam McNeely would not start visiting schools until after the Jordan Brand Classic game, or after April 21st. UCONN was first in line, but I would assume he will set up visits to other schools as well. He's been quoted as saying he's not in a hurry. He might be a lean to UCONN (as reported), but that's surprising since he's just started visiting schools.

Quote from: donnie on Today at 10:24:23 amWhat if we get Davis? He's got to be one of the highest dollar figure players in the portal, no?

They're saying a million dollars or close to it for Davis. But this is a player that can legitimately carry your team and *will* be an All-SEC player. Quaintance is extremely talented but also 17 years old and raw. You can't (that means "shouldn't", FFS) pay twice that, or over twice that, for a player like this.

Quote from: Hogman 2012 on Today at 08:04:59 amI thought Cal had burnt bridges with a lot of KY boosters.

He did, that's why I said if he had played his cards right. Cal could have went to those boosters at any time to try to make peace but he isn't that type of guy. Cal is the perfect coach for a lot of these young 5 stars that just want to go to the NBA. And that is where a big part of the issues came, the University of Kentucky kind of ceased to exist and it became the University of Cal. Again, when you are winning people will put up with a lot but once that stops people want their soul back. Also it wasn't just boosters he was pushing away, he was pushing away fans and the local media.

Quote from: Hog Hog on Today at 10:40:07 amThat's what I'm seeing as well.  I'm hoping we pay top market for Johnell Davis and Jonas Aidoo, while still adding as many of the guys like Boogie and Richmond and Cyril and McNeeley as we can using Cal's reputation for creating/fostering future successful pro players.

I agree, but I think the missing ingredient in your lineup is an experienced PG.  When we won the NC, Corey Beck led that team.  He did not score or stuff the stats, but he refused to lose.  His main contribution was that he mentally tough and that mentality spread to the rest of the team.

People think DJ Wagner was a disappointment last year, but that is because he was a elite scorer in HS.  His turnover ratio was really good.  He might be the player to lead this team.  Maybe Davis can lead it.  I'm not sure, but we need that one stud and just wins.  I just don't get the warm and fuzzy feeling about giving that role to a FR.

Quote from: mizzouman on Today at 10:25:22 amI think both Uk and Arkansas can afford him, they just chose not to.

Y'all are being unnecessary literal here. It's annoying. You know exactly what I meant when I said it.
