I hope that is correct and he comes here. Lord knows we can use a guard that can power his way to the basket.

The_Iceman

That is a fair comparison in terms of potential and style of play.

HOGINTENNESSEE

I may have thrown up if he compared himself to D Rose or J Wall.

Just because of their connection to Cal. Lol, us Razorback fans looking for any sign of hope

Dr. Starcs

So he's gonna jack up 40 shots a game when he has an actual MVP on his team?

(Sorry. Lol)

TomBigBeeHog

I spent most of my life drankin', gamblin', and chasing women, the rest I just wasted.

ADavisTheGOAT

Him saying his style is up and down the court and fast paced makes me feel good.

The real secret is that Westbrook is the best player on OKC, and has been since the midseason point of Durant's MVP season.

If he's a third the player Russell Westbrook is, we'd be very fortunate as a program, to have him.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

HognitiveDissonance

That's funny, because I saw a Russell Westbrook highlight on TV last night and it hit me that he is probably the best comparison for Malik Monk's game...

As a Thunder fan living in OKC, all of the calls to local sports radio of people complaining about how "Durant can't play his game with Russ there!" or "the Thunder will never win a championship with Russ taking that many shots!" get old really quickly. Last time everyone was healthy they made the Finals (as a really young team), and if you want to chalk that up to Harden look at how competitive they've been post-Harden.

The two of them clearly can co-exist and win games. If your biggest problem is "radio hosts debate the day after which of our two superstars should have really taken the last shot" then you don't have any problems that need fixing.

They're not winning a championship with the team as it is so they clearly need to fix some things.

They've got a very good chance, if Durant stays healthy.    They're much closer than any franchise not named Golden State or Cleveland is, to playing championship level basketball when healthy.

Only thing they need to change is stay injury feel

They had the most significant coaching upgrade in the league this offseason as well;  getting rid of Scott Brooks is almost like adding a just-sub All-Star caliber player to the roster.

He was that terrible as a head coach.

I'd list Clippers and Spurs as both favorites before I would okc too.

I just don't think Westbrook and Durant, while both dynamic players in their own right, can carry them all the way to a title. Ibaka is so improved as well, but the 4 teams you and I mentioned are just loaded with talent even on the bench.

If Durant is already worn down, it won't be long before Westbrook is, especially with the volume of minutes he gets and his kamikaze style of play.

Hawg Red

I think there is a reasonable case to be made for Westbrook being the best player on that team right now. Either way, they're great together and Westbrook, while I don't care of his personality and the way he behaves in front of the media, gets too much flack from fans. He's having a crazy good season so far.

Thunder were the favorite by most last season to emerge out of the West before all the injuries. Now they've significantly upgraded both their bench and their coaching. No team has an east path in the West but the Thunder are clearly a contender for the championship.

Better chance than most.

If OKC can get Enes Kanter to play even somewhat engaged defense (or at least defensive effort) and get Dion Waiters to settle into his role, they will be rolling. I do think they might need to package a couple of players to bring in a combo forward for the bench to help take the load off Durant.

I'd put them far ahead of the Clippers, and ahead of the Spurs--  if you doubt Durant, I can only wonder what you think about the prospect of Tony Parker having a meaningful impact in the playoffs.

And Ginobili and Duncan. As good as they all can be and as good as Pop is at getting them rest throughout the season, at some point any three of them could wear down at the end of the season.

I'd take Kanter, Augustin, Waiters, Morrow, Collison and McGary over the Spurs bench too. Undoubtedly better than the Clippers bench.

Everyone has doubted the spurs virtually every year. Lol

Vegas agrees with me however. And they agree with you about the clippers.

I still say the clippers will go farther than okc this year.

Nah-- you know what you'll get pretty much, from Duncan, its just in a smaller window of minutes.  Ginobli is kind of a wild card, but is a luxury at this point for the Spurs.

The real question of how far the Spurs will be how much of the precipitous decline of Tony Parker that Patty Mills is able to pick up for, come playoff time.
