In his pre-Delta State news conference ...

This team has the pieces, want to continue to put those pieces together and get better throughout the year. He mentioned players such as Thompson, Miles, Kouassi and Whitt as guys who are being asked to come to speed fast.

Kingsley has had good practices, at some point there's gotta be some carryover. Practiced better than he played in the first exhibition. Moses has worked extremely hard.

Fouls - moving screens are a point of emphasis for the refs, gotta be aware. Whitt's defense - was playing that high school defense. Kouassi - got to get body in position, use his length to block shots. Opponents getting to his body and getting fouls called on him.

Encouraged with Durham's energy on defense. He's in a better place than he was last year, as far as being ready for the season.

Work in progress. Want team to have confidence going into the season.

Anderson also said he wants the Razorbacks to improve their free throw shooting after making 7-18 in the second half against Southwestern Oklahoma State. He believes Keaton Miles can be a good free throw shooter. Not sure about others such as Kouassi.

Anderson's comments about Whitt's defense is exactly why I was a little worried about his 5 fouls. Obviously it's a learning curve, and very possible to have it fixed before we play any meaninful games. But it's clear he's playing defense more with his hands and not his legs and chest at the moment.
