Chris Ash talks about specific lessons he learned from Bret Bielema and Urban Meyer that he has taken to Rutgers.

In his first head coaching job, Chris Ash took some specific advice and lessons from his former bosses to Rutgers. Specifically, the importance of hand-written letters (from Bret Bielema) and the need for young coaches on a staff (from Urban Meyer).

Theres some good information in there that isn't talked about very often. Hire young coaches because they can adapt (and are probably willing) to the direction of a program. That's a very good idea for a few position coaches. It avoids coaches who are set in their styles bumping heads or having conflicting ideals about the game (Shannon and ash or bielema and chaney)
That's right, you don't want to be the man to replace the man.  You want to be the man to replace Rory Segrest.

But it also means you stand a good chance of having high turnover because they are young and looking for advancement.  There's a give and take there, for sure.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
