Rebelbruiser, you fail to note that while Florida has an abundance of talent, there are also no less than seven D-1 level programs fighting for that in-state talent (Florida, Florida State, Miami, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University), not to mention the other SEC schools and even USC, Texas and Notre Dame.  Granted, FAU and FIU are the proverbial red-headed stepchildren but other than Alabama, which has both UA and Auburn, all of the other SEC schools are "it" in their respective states (Sorry Vandy, it's not the same.)

That's right.  The competition is much higher in Florida than most states.  Keep in mind most kids that grow up in Florida are children of parents who grew up elsewhere.  Many of these parents have raised their kids as Buckeyes, Wolverines, or some other out of state team.  Florida isn't like Arkansas or Alabama where generations pull for the instate school.

Plus, if the old instate talent arguement mean so much then why hasn't UCLA and Texas A&M faired better than they have.  Arkansas is a better program than A&M and you could argue its better than UCLA alltime.

Seriously, what does Florida have that A&M doesn't?   I'll tell you what, a fantastic coach.  Coaching is more important than instate talent.

Now I will agree that some jobs are much tougher to win at like Vandy, Baylor, Northwestern.......  But if you are a big instate school with tons of fan support and financial support you can win and win big.

Trav should just delete that post as I know he feels like a jacka   .

He must realize it as he has yet to respond and admit he was wrong. Maybe he is working on his reading skills.

Exactly.  The schools in the surrounding states are always raiding Florida for recruits.  Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina are always signing Florida recruits in great numbers.  Hell, even Purdue signed 14 Floridians this year.

It's not as if Florida is like Arkansas, where most kids grow up worshipping the flagship state school, and Meyer just cherry-picks.  They have to go out and compete with the rest of the schools.  Florida didn't even sign the top 3 in-state recruits this year (Trent Richardson - Alabama, Ray Ray Armstrong - Miami, and Jacobbi McDaniel - Florida State).  Actually, Florida only signed 4 of the top 30 players in the state this year.
