New rule will prevent teams from resting healthy players.  It is designed to protect fans who pay hefty prices for tickets from being disappointed when the superstars don't play.  And to protect TV.

So now they will have flu like symptoms.

I have 10 to 12 points to make per game.

husker71

no way to enforce this at all

To be fair, the league has also changed scheduling to reduce back to backs and eliminate 4 game in 5 night stretches.  In short, there should be less of a need to rest healthy players as the schedule is less physically demanding.  They are starting a week earlier, which effectively builds in 7 extra off days.

The interesting rule change, to me, is the cap on timeouts in the end of quarter/half/game scenarios, as well as the time changes for the length of those TOs.

Its going to hamper the more effective X and O guys in the league in end game situations, and put a premium on veterans who know how to manage the end of game situations without the benefit of a timeout.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Interesting. . . So this applies to the playoffs as well, there will be a whole day on "first take" bs applied to somebody being upset by this rule.

The resting thing is laughable; I don't see how they can ever actually enforce players resting.

They need a rule where you cannot take over two steps without dribbling the ball.

If they're not changing the 1 and done rule I'm really not interested.

They aren't prohibiting anyone from resting.  They have reduced the need for rest by building more off days and fewer game heavy stretches (back to back and 4 games in 5 days).  If teams continue to excessively or unnecessarily  rest healthy players even with the scheduling concessions made by the league, I would expect teeth added to enforcement in the future.  Hopefully it will not be needed.

It's okay if one of your three steps involves jumping into the air and landing on both feet.

That rule won't change anything.  Wish the NBA had a hard salary cap and changed the veteran mininum to make it harder for these players to team up.  I know some people like those teams, but to me it's made the league less competive.  The playoffs were pretty boring no suspense.  No fun to watch.

Playoffs would be a little more competitive if they got rid of some teams.  More than half the league makes it to a playoff and it lasts almost 2 months.

Too much money involved for them to do that.

Yep. But it does suck because the regular season and playoffs are way too long.

yeah maybe take out 2-4 teams and it would be more interesting. this will never happen considering the $$$$$

Hogimus Prime

The other teams would be more competitve if they would quit hiring incompetent GMs.

I agree...And that 2 day gap between some playoff games don't help.

They're likely to announce the addition 2 to 4 teams in the next ten years.  There's already rumblings of expansion with the next CBA, and the one after it.

Well it will make more money I am sure. Still makes the game worse in my opinion.
