He guys. My wife and I are going to Vegas for a long weekend in November.  Hogville travels well and I know lots of y'all have been there.  Which show do we need to see?  Where to stay? Eat? Avoid?  Deals on dining, shows etc?

Thanks in advance!  WPS!

Mon Ami at Paris is a can't miss.  Food is fantastic and you can sit outside and people watch to your hearts content. I heard the seafood buffet at the Rio was great and I wasted my money.  Dropped a $100 for all the lobster and oysters we could eat and the jerk chicken wound up being the best thing on the buffet.  Don't know about you but $100 for chicken is not a good deal.  ;)
I need to be more like my dog...if you can't fight it, screw it, or eat it, then piss on it.

Depends on your budget.

If you can spend some money, stay at Wynn/Encore, or Venetian/ Palazzo, or Bellagio.

All the restaurants you could ever want will be in your hotel.

Avoid any buffet, try the restaurants in your hotel.

Caeser's is good also.

If you need to move down a tier in $$, look at the MGM, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Mirage,

Shows:  All the Cirq shows are great.

The best show I have seen is La Reve at Wynn.

A less expensive ticket is the Improve at Harrah's.  But, don't stay at Harrah's.  It is the only property we have stayed in that I would never return to.

If you consider MGM, DO NOT, REPEAT,  DO NOT book a room in the " West Wing"

No matter how attractive the price is.

Absinthe is the best show in Vegas, but it is very raunchy (very, very) so if you are offended at all by R rated + humor give it a pass. If not, it's the best show in Vegas.

In N Out Burger makes for a real cheap lunch to offset eating at some of the more expensive strip places in the evening.  I liked Mon Ami Gabi at Paris as well and it wasn't as expensive as several of the higher end steakhouses.  November would be good weather to sit on the patio at Mon Ami and take in the Bellagio fountains.

Have a great time.

Headed back to Vegas Thursday for my second trip this year.  We always stay at the Wynn.  I think it's the nicest hotel in Vegas.  Been to many restaurants and many shows. What kind of food/entertainment/budget are you wanting?

This trip we're eating at:
Wazuzu at Encore
Le Cirque at Bellagio
Mon Ami Gabi at Paris
Cut at Palazzo
Bouchon at Venetian
Sinatra at Encore
Jazz Brunch at Wynn Country Club

Probably will also mix in Zoozacrackers at Wynn and Earl of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood.

Going to see Absinthe.

The rest of my time will be spent in the poker room and sportsbook!

Over 25 years ago I had a couple of friends that used to go to Vegas on business. They turned me on to a local Italian place behind the Flamingo called Batista's Hole In The Wall. Last time I was in Vegas (4 yrs ago) I went back and it was good as ever. Neat atmosphere, complete with an old guy who walks around to the tables playing his Accordion. If you like red checkered table cloth type Italian restaurants, you need to go here. An easy walk from the Venetian, Caesers, Paris, etc. area.

I've stayed at the Venetian 3 times , Encore once, and just got back from staying at the Cosmopolitan.

Venetian: Great place, tons of restaurants. Cuts has amazing steaks. Gambling gets really crowded on the weekends as it is very touristy. Lots of Asians with cameras. Most of the dealers are friendly but foreign and hard to interact with. Also lots of people shuffling through there constantly.

Encore: only stayed one night, then went back to the Venetian due to the way we were treated

Cosmopolitan: easily the best atmosphere for the younger crowd. It's expensive but the staff was incredible and very accommodating. I love the feel on the gaming floor and the dealers were all very friendly. Great cover band that plays nightly with a young guy covering Sinatra right at the main bar.  Oh, and their newer steakhouse STK is badass. Never though I'd be at a 5 star restaurant with a DJ playing Notorious BIG while I was eating. Will definitely go back there.

Of course, I'm 30 and still like the wild scene so this may all be irrelevant.

I forgot about Bouchon.....good one! By Thomas Keller who owns The French Laundry in Napa, CA.

The Marmot

The Mandarin Oriental is amazing. No casino to deal with, centrally located but very private and its connected to City Center and the Bellagio for gambling and shows. Its a little oasis in Vegas. Theres even an S-class Mercedes and driver available for free (first come, first serve).

The fact that you can type the words doesn't stop the thought behind those words from being horseshit.

She'll probably love whatever themed decoration Bellagio has going.  It will probably be Thanksgiving which is a pretty cool one.

Stayed at the Cosmopolitan about a month ago for a week and it was awesome.  Ate at the Eiffel Tower and loved it.  Gaming at the Bellagio was fun.  The Cirque shows are really hood.  Zumanity it is awesome for an adult themed Cirque show.  The spa at the Cosmopolitan is one of the best.

Lots of fun to be had in that town.

You can give her one of the best days ever by picking on of a half dozen spas and getting her a day   they are some of the best you will find.  Don't know which week Comdex is but even that has died down some I am told.  For any of you that are thinking of going to Vegas  they almost give away rooms from just after Thanksgiving to just before Christmas.  My friends tell me the Cosmopolitan is great like some others have said    Planet Hollywood is overated and their is no water in the Venetian water way for the gondolas last time I heard.  Now I am married so my 4 times a year trips ended 3 years ago lol

PH is almost a replacement for a strip club when you walk through the tables area.

Still in Vegas.  Having a great time.  Not winning but spending lots.  Met Pete Rose today at a signing event at Mandalay Bay shop.  He asked where I live.... Arkansas.

He said -No kidding-"they play LSU today don't they?  And they are favored, right? Woooo pig Sooie"

It used to be that at the Hardrock used to have all the great looking women at about 1 am or so just walking around now it the PH according to my friends who still live there.  For you unaccompanied guys they are worth talking to as many still believe in free enterprise.

We were in Vegas a few weeks ago.  Stayed at Venetian which I'd highly recommend.  Best meal was probably Mon Ami Gabi, but it was the only upper end restaurant we visited on this trip.  We did a lot of beer/burger places.  B&B at Venetian was my favorite of that group.  Watched Absinthe, Rock of Ages, and Zumanity.  Absinthe is the best show in Vegas, imo.  Very funny.  Rock of Ages was a lot of fun and the after party in the Bourbon Room was also a good time.  I was very disappointed in Zumanity.  There just didn't seem like there was much to it.  I used to go to Vegas 2-3 times a year, but it had been 4 years since I had been.  I am ready to back again.

We stayed at the Venetian as well and felt we could not have picked a better place.  Just neat to walk around that place and find all the hidden pools, courtyards and whatever else they've got hidden.

Mon Ami is nice.  We look at it like we don't do it every day and drop whatever they charge because it's just darn good.
