Did he sign with us and we lost him to the draft?

I have been thinking we should have a thread for all ex hogs or signees in  MLB.
Watched Blake Parker strike out the side in his only inning of work the other night.

Blake Parker is a buddy of mine, good guy.  Still in a group chat with him and play in a fantasy football league with him every year.  He is super competitive and 1 year we had our fantasy draft at 7pm and he tried logging into his ESPN account at about 6:55pm and could not remember his password, so he had asked the league commissioner to pause the draft until he could recover his password, so he put it to a vote within the league members and we all voted to proceed with the draft that it was his fault he was not better prepared haha.  However, that pissed him off so bad because it ended up autodrafting his first two picks, that he just left the draft room, sent his money in and didn't play the rest of the year (did not touch his lineup once).  He came back the next year and won the league.

He's also been balding really bad the last few years and is almost completely bald, so we have been giving him a hard time about that haha.
SCREW Vandy!

That might have been the most frustrated I have ever heard DVH talk about a recruit who signed out of high school.

He was committed to Vandy, but DVH offered him a full scholly and he decided to sign with Arkansas.  Was a 12th round pick by the Nationals out of high school and floated a number to scouts of $1.5MM; however, he signed for under $800K.  It has worked out well for him since he is doing well in the big leagues and has elite strikeout stuff.

Just imagine adding him to a staff which had Stanek, Astin, Suggs, Sanburn, Baxendale, Moore, etc.

That's pretty funny, he looked good the other night and the commentary was very high on him, glad to see he is still up there.
I still think he hit the longest home run that I have ever witnessed at Baum.

Nice job, thank you, I think this is a great reference as we get close to draft.
People have been discussing who we might lose to the draft, and this list proves how hard it is know ahead of time.

The example UCA gave is another reminder about how far off a guy might sign for from what he claims it will take to get him, before the draft.

Everything we hear from now til draft day needs to taken with a grain of salt.

Would have loved to see what the Hogs could've done with these 3 on the Hill.  Dreams of times gone by.

Robbie Ray is from my high school here in the Nashville area (Brentwood).  Great person and great parents.  He was going to AR until the very last day.  Unexpectedly he was offered the 800k and about on the last possible day. Way over his draft slot for signing money and he changed his mind.  He and his family are a class act.

Can someone remind me what the name was of the Arkansas recruit that signed a minor league contract, never cashed his signing bonus nor pitched, and then tried to get back his amateur status unsuccessfully?

I believe this was in the mid-2000s.

That's the one -- he was a 2005 3rd round draftee of Colorado Rockies.  Apparently, after sitting out three years he went and tried rookie ball for 2009 and 2010 with lukewarm success.  Thanks!
