i am fixing to book tickets to nassau for early july... i have flyer miles for the trip so i plan on booking the flight now and looking into hotels after that.

my buffalo theory has it that the closer we get to the travel dates the better chance i will have finding a great deal on a hotel... if not i will be paying the same price anyway..

looking for something all-inclusive, just wife and i so a place w/ lower amounts of kids would be preferred.

There is a hotel right next to Paradise Island, I believe it was a Comfort Inn, we stayed there and we got to use Paradise Island as if we were staying their. The cost worked out around $200 per night, was not but a 2-5 minute walk.It was the best vacation my family has been on, we are planning on going back sometime in the near future

I've been to Nassau twice (once on the honeymoon, once with a cruise).  We stayed at the Sandals and still talk about it to this day.  If you want All-Inclusive they are the way to go.  A little more expensive than most, but for the quality and peace of mind it is awesome.  The service is amazing with absolutely no tipping (none expect it and most won't accept it as they are more highly paid than most hotels).  The food and drinks are outstanding (I ordered two entrees and a bottle of wine with most every dinner meal - all included, of course).  Adults only (=peace and quiet).  We stayed in one of the villas (no ocean view, but not a problem) which we actually ended up liking better than a high-rise hotel because it was quieter, nicer, and more private.  They even share part of a private island with full amenities a half mile off the beach for a change of pace.  Feel free to PM me with any other questions.  Sandals is clearly a cut above everywhere that I have been or anywhere people that I have talked to have been, and we will get back to the resort in St. Lucia soon.  If you want somewhere to stay and enjoy without a worry, go Sandals.

Yes, Nassau the city is the suck.  Locals hassle you constantly to buy stuff.

A few years back we were advised to avoid Nassau and thus we chose Freeport instead. Stayed at the all-inclusive Viva Fortuna (at the time) I think it is now Wyndham Fortuna.

Very good vacation, we stayed five nights and only went to town (Freeport) once. Fortuna Beach is one of the nicest you'll find. Walked it for a mile or two without hassle.
