New time frame for Jaxson Robinson potentially entering the Transfer Portal emerges

by: Tyler Thompson

QuoteMay 1 is the deadline for players to enter the transfer portal, aka notify their current schools they may leave. According to Jeff Borzello, that date now also applies to graduate transfers, who previously had no deadline to enter the portal. The NCAA Division I Board of Directors approved the change on Monday and it is effective immediately.

What does this mean for Kentucky, which is building a roster from scratch?

BYU senior Jaxson Robinson declared for the NBA Draft yesterday. While the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year did not mention a potential return to college, the common thought is if he does decide to come back as a grad transfer, Kentucky will be his destination. It would certainly be nice if we knew whether or not Robinson was entering the portal by May 1, but, as Borzello notes, Robinson gets an extension because Pope left BYU. Players whose coaches have left their school have 30 days from the departure to make their decision.

I was thinking that the Friday and Saturday games will be a washout and maybe they play two 7 inning games Sunday starting at 10:00 am.
The problem with this weekend is not only projected severe storms but the lightning strike rule which could cause havoc. It's a shame we might lose out playing 3 games against a floundering Florida team at home. The weather projections for next weekend in Lexington, Kentucky don't look great either..

@JonRothstein
San Diego State's Lamont Butler --- who has already entered the 2024 NBA Draft while retaining his college eligibility --- is also entering the transfer portal with the option to return to San Diego State, per his Twitter page.

Quote from: Kris P. Bacon on Today at 10:12:17 pmI thought we couldn't post "local competitor" content? Or is that just in Jump Ball?
Can I suggest Kent Smith is unable to rise to the status of "competitor" to any of other guys covering the Hogs?

A little light in the information department.
Cal sure does a good job of keeping a lid on things.

Quote from: secfan30 on Today at 08:47:50 pmA mindless response. No, a quick google search will show what BCG prior to Kentucky. Which is more than Pope has done.
Most on this board were drooling over BCG and completely butthurt that KY hired him. We dodged that bullet!

It would be nice to pick up a defensive tackle or two. Thanks for the update Otis!

Quote from: mindemon on Today at 07:43:48 pmI am flattered that you think I write for Sports Illustrated. However, I am not Kent Smith. I just liked his observation of the Texas Secondary in their spring game vs a Petrino offense.

He doesn't write for SI. They simply use SI web services for their blog site. If Lanny moved Hogville to SI's site would that mean I was an SI writer? Nope

Quote from: Hawg Red on Today at 10:20:53 pmDoesn't sound like Battle is going to be anyone's backup plan. I bet he's on board with TCU soon.

He's got one year left.
He needs to go where he's a priority and will get playing time.
Hate to see him leave, though.
