While some of you may have coached or watched a lot of football, you are not OUR coaches.  Anyone who has coached knows that there are multiple tradeoffs, priorities, etc. with scheming, personnel, and all the micro and macro decisions that go into making up a football team.  Some of these decisions work and some of them don't.  If you have a great staff and great players like we do, what happens, ON THE WHOLE, is this: 

1.   In four short years you have a team that has risen from the ashes to national prominence.

2.   In the third year that team went to its first BCS Bowl.

3.   In its fourth year it is rated in the top ten and in the hunt for another BCS bowl while playing in the toughest division in toughest conference in the nation.

Our coaches make these decisions after living and breathing this team, its players and our opponents every single day of the year.

There are a lot of members here, no doubt. With the great numbers comes an extreme probability of many that have no reason at all to post their slack jaw BS, but this is America. You might be very surprised. I remember receiving a PM from someone vehemently attacking me for an opinion I expressed on this board. The content of his message was something that I disagreed with, but what really scared me was the fact someone would take time to personally write me and basically try to intimidate me into not expressing my opinions. I was flabbergasted. There are some wacko people out there.
My conclusion is that there any number of people, some of them moderators, who really don't care about your right to express "your" opinion. All they're interested in is making sure "their" voice is heard, and all conflicting views are squashed, and they're willing to take measures to ensure that is the case, which would include writing harassing personal messages, deleting posts, moving entire threads to the trash can, etc etc

The disappointing thing to me though is that not only other posters but some of the "employees" are more than willing to allow even the most poorly written opinions to stand uncommented on IF said opinion jives with their own but if ANYONE says anything out of line, no matter how well written wham suddenly they should be silenced and or they broke some unspecified board rule, or they get labeled a troll simply because they/we have an unpopular opinion.

Meanwhile someone else could post "your wrong guys, Houston wasn't a terrible coach for us, he was an average coach. Multiple people would point out that the poster used your instead of you're , and there would be page upon page of people claiming that the poster was an idiot, a troll, and possibly a faggot, and needed to go back to Oxfart.

Now how does that make sense? The first illiterate , childish poster gets an attaboy while the second poster who just simply stated his opinion and gave reasons why it was his opinion gets ravaged? And that's not even mentioning the fact that rarely , if ever, will all the people calling the latter posters names be infracted in anyway for it.

But the WORST part of all is that it is the same core of posters who are doing that to people and the majority of posters who aren't actively doing it just stand on the side and let it happen. A little peer pressure would change that. I'm glad to see threads like this where a little common sense is prevailing. Very encouraging.

You are absolutely right.
This has come up several times, in several ways. The topic of free speech, that is.

The reason you'll get for that is that the board was founded upon the principles of trashing Houston Nutt. It basically is what made Hogville what it is. That's what it's known for. That is the party line, the moderators enforce it, and it's a private board, so free speech does not apply.

To which I would say, yes, a private board has every right to do whatever it wishes; however, it doesn't have the right to call itself a 'Razorback Discussion Forum'. Well, it does, but that would untruthful. A true discussion board encourages discussion, on any topic, and not *some* topics.

So what it comes down to, does the board aspire to be a *true* discussion forum, or not? If it does, then it needs to allow all expressions of opinion, with no deletion or editing of content. If it doesn't care about being a truly open forum, then such editing or deletion is totally acceptable.

Well, I was speaking more of the posters than the owner and moderators of the board. It IS private property , and that's something that many don't understand. You don't have the right to free speech on this board, the first amendment guarantees that the government will never take away your right to free speech. It says NOTHING about Lanny, and I know that the official policy on here is that differing opinions are okay because I seen it posted by a moderator just last night. But that sure doesn't stop some posters from thinking they have the right to tell others to shut up.

I've never heard of Lanny deleting posts, but I know the moderators do. I've had several posts deleted before, for no good reason other than the moderator didn't like my opinion. I will bet there are countless others who can make the same claim.

I've thought about this a lot lately.  We are 6-1.  I've come to the conclusion that there are basically two groups that make these type of post with a fury.

The first group are (I don't normally believe in conspiracy theories) Nutt huggers from the past that may actually be plants and the group..... Two are young people who never learned what it was like just to be happy to win.

The young ones who don't know anything about building a championshp program I can tolerate and I believe they will grow as the program grows.

The Nutt Huggers who seem to infiltrate this board only when they think they can post something to tear this program apart and undermine what Coach P is building.......well, they have an agenda it's not in the better interest of this program.

Got news for you slick, only Admins can ban you (of which Lanny is a part) and that does not include Mods.

I don't disagree about WR's DC methodology, but you need to know who can ban you and who cannot. Mods are not one of these. We are merely here to keep the peace until you cross the line, then it is the Admins that can banish you for a period of time. That being said, act like an arse outside the boundaries of acceptable behavior towards a designated Mod and it can put your priviledges in potential jeopardy. That being said, the decision is ultimately up to the Admins, not the Mods. So be a good boy (good poster) on here within the rules of the board and this will never again be a concern (or complaint) for you again.

Look, for all I know you might be new to this message board thingy, but here are some tips...  Generally speaking, when someone has more "Smites" than "Posts", that's considered BAD.  Contrary to what you may think, it doesn't mean you're misunderstood or everyone else is illiterate. 
Believe it or not, it is quite possible someone might read more than one or two threads (called Subjects) in any given day.  So be aware of this fact...someone might disagree with your opinion in one thread, but let it slide.  But they may just find and disagree with another post (that's when you type something and left click on "Post" when you're finished) of yours in another thread and suddenly people begin to form an opinion of YOU, not just your opinions.  That's how the "Smites" start piling up.

Every year know-it-all sunshine pumpers will tell anybody with a critical opinion to shut up and be glad we even field a team.  They will say we should be happy with our defense although every FBS team and a few well coached high schools get a better push up front than the current, highly-touted squad we are fielding.

This website is losing its primary intent of talking all things Hogs and becoming a Spellcheck, Language Check, Opinion Check Arguement.  It seems many would rather argue and call other posters out than discuss the topic.

I suggest many of the topics are self evident facts and therefore are really not opinions at all.  When a sugject is backed by stats and game footage, the opinion is taken out of it.
