Matt Laporta hit a ball that is probably over the mid atlantic by now

2 run shot and its 2-0 Florida with SC batting in the bottom of the first

Florida's pitcher is making his first start of the season.  gave up a leadoff first inning single, but a double play quelched that threat

Florida just walked a run home to make it 5-2 SC

florida has to win to be NCAA eligible, and Pat McMahon is managing like the game is on the line, he has gone through 4 pitchers now in this one inning alone

in other words, it would be nice if Florida could figure out how to come back and win

If this game is in South Carolina  its 9-2 now.  Instead its a LOONG fly out and the inning is over and its only 5-2 SC

Gators are still alive as they head to the top of the 7th, but they are running out of outs

Florida may have, and I say may, have a very slim chance of having played themselves into a low seed regional bid somewhere with the one win, but they probably needed this one to make it a good chance.

I assume Carolina will be down to their 4th starter tomorrow, correct?

they had 2 #3 starters this year, so we get one of those, then a midweek guy if a second game has to be played.   Hogs know it will be Welker in game 1 and either Keuchel or Rhoads if there is an if-necessary game

If the Hogs were to lose the first game tomorrow look for Will Atwood or Wynn Pelzer to get the start.   Pelzer is very talented, but has struggled all year.  At one time it was believed Pelzer was the most talented USC pitcher and he had a good year last year, but Tanner is losing confidence in him.  Atwood would be my guess.
