Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg underwent successful open heart surgery on Friday

"Everything went very well," Dr. Rakesh Suri said in a statement released by the university. "The operation was a success and Mr. Hoiberg is in recovery and doing very well himself."

Last week, it was reported that Hoiberg would undergo the procedure at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to replace his aortic valve. In July, Hoiberg had his pacemaker replaced. Hoiberg had underwent an aortic root operation in June of 2005, which put an end to his NBA career.

Hoiberg played 10 years in the NBA. He finished his fifth season at Iowa State with a 25-9 (12-6 Big 12) record, winning the conference tournament.

Bucknell has found its replacement for Dave Paulsen, who left the program last month to become the head coach at George Mason. Sunday evening the school announced the hiring of Nathan Davis, who makes his return to Bucknell after serving as the head coach at Randolph Macon for the last six seasons.

Bo Ryan led the Badgers to the title game this season and there were some rumors that the long-time coach might be looking to retire in the near future. Ryan put those rumors to rest on Saturday night as he spoke with ESPN's Andy Katz...

Ryan told a crowd at a Coaches vs. Cancer Gala at the Kohl Center that he and his wife are looking to downsize to a condo now that their children have grown up and moved out of the house. Ryan actually sold his house to Wisconsin football head coach Paul Chryst.

As for retiring, Ryan isn't sure when that will happen.

"I'm here at Wisconsin until I'm done coaching. We're going to be young next season and we will have a lot of work to do," Ryan told Katz.

Ryan also told Katz that the loss to Duke in the national championship game is still tough to swallow...

Michael White's time at Louisiana Tech has come to an end.

Florida announced Thursday night that White will replace Billy Donovan as the Gators' next coach.

White's new deal at Florida is for six years at $2 million per year. He informed the team of his decision earlier Thursday and will be introduced at Florida on Monday.

"I have an incredible amount of respect for the University of Florida, and I am so excited to be a Gator," White said in a statement. "Not only is Florida home for me, but the tradition and success that the Gators have built make this an incredible opportunity."

White has a buyout of $500,000. He signed a six-year, $3.6 million contract extension last April.

"We are so appreciative of Mike White and the incredible job he has done with our men's basketball program during the past four years in Ruston," Tech athletic director Tommy McClelland said in a text message to The News-Star. "He represented Louisiana Tech University in a first class manner both on and off the court and for that we will forever be grateful. Mike and his family will always have a special place in the hearts of Bulldog fans. We wish him the best of luck at Florida.

We will immediately begin a national search for his replacement. We will do our due diligence in finding the next head coach at Louisiana Tech."

Interesting, White has a $500K buyout from his contract at La Tech. Same buyout as Billy D had in leaving OKC. Two cancel each other out.

In other words, #Gators can take 500K from Thunder (Billy D's buyout) to pay off La Tech for White's 500K buyout.

A coaching question that has dominated the NBA throughout this season is the status of Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, with various reports surfacing that issues between he and the front office would lead to a separation once the season came to an end. And the name that has come up on multiple occasions regarding a possible replacement is that of Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg, who's won back-to-back Big 12 tournament titles at his alma mater.

For some, that alone would be reason to worry but that isn't the case for Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard.

During a stop on the Cyclone Tailgate Tour, Pollard both reiterated that Hoiberg has not told him of any plans to move on and also noted that this is not a time to panic according to the Des Moines Register.

    Later on Wednesday in Clear Lake, Pollard urged fans to "take a step away from the ledge."

    "I recognize it's tough on you guys, it's tough on the players (and) it's tough on the fans," Pollard said.

    It's been tough on Pollard too.

    "Would I say I'm not stressed by it?" Pollard asked. "That'd be not telling the truth but at the same time, it is what it is and we've just all got to deal with it — you, me, the players and the fans."

When Fred Hoiberg took the job at Iowa State, one of the primary reasons he succeeded was due to assistant T.J. Otzelberger.

Otzelberger was the one who had recruited Melvin Ejim, also helped land Georges Niang and persuaded Hoiberg to take a bunch of transfers.

Iowa State assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger has a "full support" of Cyclones' athletic director Jamie Pollard, but several other sources said school president Dr. Steven Leath wants to hire a "brand name" for the position.

"He feels the level of the job has changed since Fred got here," one source said of Leath. "He wants to bring in someone with some pedigree. It's a battle of wills right now."

Another source told CBSSports.com that Pollard was going to meet with Iowa State's players Tuesday about the best possible way to fill the vacancy.

The Cyclones are a consensus top 10 team for next season and return three All-Big 12 players: Monte Morris, Georges Niang, and Jameel McKay.

McMahon was hired by new Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol as associate head coach late last month. To get an idea of just how long he lasted in Ruston, McMahon's most recent tweet — from June 1st — talks about how excited he is to start his first full week with the Bulldogs.

This decision is also important for Iowa State fans, as they wait to find out who will be on the Cyclone staff next season. Will Prohm's current staff remain with McMahon in Murray, Kentucky, or will they be following Prohm to Ames, Iowa? Will Prohm begin his Cyclone tenure with proven high-major recruiters — T.J. Otzelberger? — on staff?

LSU coach Johnny Jones is back on the hunt for an assistant coach. That was an abrupt change from what the Tigers' fourth-year coach was expecting as he returned to start preparing his team for a trip to Australia next month.

Veteran coach and former LSU assistant John Treloar will not be part of Jones' staff and will instead take a job with another NBA team.

The change came about sometime in the last few days after Jones spoke glowingly of Treloar during the SEC Coaches teleconference on Monday...

Filling the spot vacated by Eric Musselman and now Treloar is part of a staff shuffle that includes longtime Jones' confidant Charlie Leonard moving into the Director of Basketball Operations role...
