University of Cincinnati's men's basketball coach won't coach again this season.

Mick Cronin has missed three games since the school said that during a routine checkup for headaches, it was discovered Cronin has an unruptured aneurysm.

QuoteCronin said doctors actually found he has an arterial dissection, defined in Wikipedia as "a separation of the layers of the artery wall supplying oxygen-bearing blood to the head and brain." Cronin referred to a "flap" in his artery wall that doctors believe will heal without surgery.

"The prognosis is excellent," UC Health Director of Neurosurgery Dr. Norberto Andaluz stated in a news release handed out at the news conference. "An important part of Mr. Cronin's treatment and recovery includes rest, medication and keeping a normal blood pressure."

Cronin said he hopes to be cleared within three months and able to return to work. He'll serve as an adviser and will be able to recruit while he's not coaching.

"I'm extremely lucky that I was able to get headaches that were bad enough," he said, noting team doctors believed the headaches may have had a deeper cause and pushed him to be examined.

"I feel great!" he told reporters Friday, saying he felt it was important that he be seen so people wouldn't be as concerned about him.

The Bearcats beat N.C. State earlier this week and plays SMU on Saturday at Fifth Third Arena. Associate head coach Larry Davis will continue to lead the Bearcats during Cronin's absence...

Two Horizon league coaches should be a hot commodity: Bryce Drew and Green Bay's 35-year-old Brian Wardle -- who is 44-12 last two seasons.

Reports: Nevada fires Coach Carter

Carter had spent 16 years as a member of the Nevada staff, having worked as an assistant coach for a decade.

Source tells me and @BDavisAAA that Texas has made decision to part ways with Rick Barnes but won't announce it yet.

Texas hopes to have a replacement for Barnes "within a week." Put Shaka Smart, Gregg Marshall high on the list

Barnes made $2.55M a year. Source tells me UT could probably go up to $3 million annual salary.

No one should forget that Barnes did a great job at Texas for most of his 17 seasons. And terrific guy
