World Cup draws were announced today.

Since the USA did not qualify, who are you rooting for?

Some possibilities:

England: obvious?
Iceland: smallest country to ever qualify (325,000 residents)
South Korea: to troll North Korea
Germany: they always win, so it would be nice to root for a winner
Russia: they propelled Trump to victory

lol.  Never seen so many people celebrate a tie.

1) Germany (heritage)
2) Switzerland (Parents used to live there, took a trip with my buddies after graduating from U of A.  Amazing country.
3) Iceland (hard not to root for the underdog)

Not Mexico or Panama.... I'm a big fan of watching Ronaldo and Messi play, so Portugal and Argentina. Usually I pull for the underdogs, but not here. I want to watch all the heavyweights slug it out.

Not rooting for anyone.  It is soccer and soccer sucks.

I'm rooting for the floppers............no wait that's every team!
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

My mother is of 100% German lineage. She was the first in her family to marry a full-blooded non-German man. And Pops was half German. So that makes me 75% Deutschland. The Square Heads will get World Cup #5 easily. The discipline with which they play "the beautiful game" is idyllic to watch. They are a machine and they have superior athletes who see the geometry of the game. Competely opposite of the silly 'one on one' moves that Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Portugal put on. So it's the Germans who win their second WC in a row.
The long Grey line will never fail our country.

Iceland is the little engine that could. Plus they won Euro's one summer so that frozen island nation actually has a shot in that tournament

England

Big mighty England couldn't beat thirteen little bitty colonies. When's the last time they won any battle...........the Falklands I guess.

Crap.  Argentina was my second choice.

AirWarren

Mexico and Portugal.

Just can't push myself to root for Europe's softies like France....

Root for America;  we are the real winners, by not being buried in this darn again

Maybe this will help kill the infestation of soccer.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I would rather watch butchy and morbidly obese women playing rugby with Beth Mowins and Bill Walton calling the game.

I understand people not liking soccer.  I don't understand people coming onto a thread that's clearly about soccer just to tell you how much they don't like it

That's the problem with soccer............both the players and some of it's fans need to grow a pair.
