I've been watching for years and even I was yelling at the tv to "run the baseline, we've got an open guy on the other side of the court!!!"

i know you cant run unless it's a made basket, but, if you'd have quizzed the entire arena the second of the throw-in, most people would say it was fine to run it.

i still prefer to rememer him stealing the play from the georgia co's whiteboard LOL

I do blame him --- he's the player and supposed to know the rules.

not only that.. but a senior of all things!

.

aristotle

He's a senior.

And I knew that as a high school player. You can only run the baseline after a make, not after an out of bounds on any player.

hogster23

He is a scholarship player....know the situation!!!

Hogsfan1981

I did not get mad at him but he needs to learn to stay focused during those moments. That was a huge mistake because of the timing other than that it would not even have been talked about.

How would knowing this guy help Steph?
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

He gets to go to school for free to play basketball. He has played more basketball since he joined the Razorbacks than most of you have in your life. The guy should know the rules!  Welsh played relatively well the rest of the game, but that was on him.

So, you're putting yourself at Welsh's basketball IQ level?

Iwastherein1969

wow...a 22 year old man is not responsible for knowing that you cannot run the baseline on an inbounds pass unless its after a made basket....i've absolutely HEARD IT ALL NOW
The long Grey line will never fail our country.

HA HA!  Who is supposed to remind a Senior at the end of the game?

A senior ought not have to be reminded.

Freshman, okay, just because maybe the pressure gets to him and he goes brain-dead.

A senior who has logged as many minutes in his career as Welsh? No.

That's my point.  Pel has had three years to remind him.

AYSM?

It's like a coach having to remind a player to dribble the ball, to take it more than 2 steps.   It shouldn't be necessary at all.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

You made the affirmative statement.

I assume you had proof and weren't just acting like an ass.

I was wrong. My bad.

Dwight_K_Shrute

It was a stupid mistake in the heat of battle.  Pel yanked his a$$ right after.  Players make tons of stupid mistakes during games, this just happened at the wrong place at the wrong time.  We won the game in spite of it which is all that matters.

These guys have played a gozillian games since high school, shouldn't have to tell them.  But, if you're in charge take charge.

Amen, this guy is a SENIOR, albeit a very dumb one. This is something most players learn while playing junior high ball.

He should have known...it could have cost us the game. It nearly did. It is on him 110%.

You contradict yourself. You said they shouldn't have to be told but still Pel should have told him from across the court?

You got caught reaching and should have just quit. You have already lost credibility now you should just pretend to log off your computer.

To think Pel could control this is beyond stupid. Welsh made a dumb mistake at the wrong time. You out of all people should understand that.

You have made dumb post after dumb post in this thread, including asking someone to get back to you when they are old enough to drink....your post history indicates you, yourself, are only about 13 years old...so take my advice.

If steph couldnt remember, all he would have to do is ask the ref!  Instead he just took off.  Bonehead play for a senior that could have cost us a game.

It was typical welsh, play good one game and suck it up the next .
He does play tough D, have to give him credit for that.

QuadHog

Ive been a critic of Stef all year.He has stepped up the last 2 weeks and helped ALOT.I will let him have that play,in fact, with the way that ref crew kept holding the ball on free throws and inbounds play, who could keep up with what the last play was.

Right on!  Forget the transgression, reward the effort!

sshawg

It could have cost us another over time period if that last prayer had went in, & we might have lost. Everybody mess's up in times of stress, but what bothered me & I haven't went back yet & watched it again yet, but from watching in real time, it appeared Clarke had broken wide open on the side of the court that Welsh was on & instead of throwing him the ball, he took off across the base line to the other side.

Hogfan4ever13

Usually the ref will tell you that you have a 'spot' on the inbounds play.

Like others have said, it was his screw up 110%.  You and the entire arena knew better, he is a sr scholarship athlete who has been playing the game since he could walk....yeah, don't blame him.  Welsh wants sooo bad to be an all-american but his noggin gets in the way.  He has got to be the dumbest player I can ever remember playing for the HOGS.  He has no sense of how the game is going, jacking up dumb threes (yeah he made a few) and turning the ball over at crucial times.  He has no feel for the game.  He does hustle and wants to win as bad as anyone else out there but I believe he would step in front of a truck to be a hero.

lavacaraider

Definitely a braindead moment, & he did make a couple of mistakes in the game.  However, in my opinion, he played a very good game, especially defensively.  Sometimes, we all do things without thinking.

Wow, pretty tough talk for someone who hasn't yet to have a drink with Notshavin.
