The turning point was somewhere around 2020 (covid) when our offense went from the top of the conference, slowly down near the bottom where it is now. I don't know whether it's recruiting misses, development, or guys just not executing, but we are falling behind others in the conference offensively. Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia are much lesser programs than us, but are putting out good to elite offenses lately (Kentucky in a large park, and Georgia with a first year coach).

I'm not saying to fire Thompson, and I would not yet, but the trend is in the wrong direction. I'll give him another year, personally, to try to recruit us out of it. I do feel like DVH is getting a bit frustrated with it too, so, contrary to public opinion, I wouldn't be surprised if Thompson is encouraged to look around. I could be totally wrong though.
