SEC Cross-Pollination Thread

A thread to share local radio gossip and news from other SEC teams in our conference, at least in the period between now and the first game.

I lived in Arkansas for many years, I'm often amazed about how much more information other fan bases (particularly Alabama fans) have about their SEC brethren than we do as Razorback fans. It's all Hogs, all the time on the radio programs I'm streaming here in north GA.

A single thread to chat about other schools won't steal any bandwidth from our team, and I think actually gives a little color about our opponents. For instance, there are 5 of the Coach's Top 20 within 3 hrs of my current home: Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Clemson. There's a lot of chatter here, but nada on Arkansas or anyone else.

I'll start:
Sports radio in Atlanta has been more and more openly critical of Mark Richt over the last 2-3 years. Too much talent with several excellent recruiting classes with nothing to show.
He's a 'good man' but always loses at least one inexplicable game each year to essentially ruin the season. Missouri has won the East the last two years with fewer recruits. Lost to the much smaller GA Tech, a school that does more with much less talent.
He has to do something big this year or next year will be critical, his vocal defenders aren't really stepping up like they have in the past.

This isn't much, but it's what I got:

Some of my extended family are UT boosters or foundation members or whatever. They're almost as insufferable as they were in the late 90's. Everyone seems really optimistic on Rocky Top. Even the usual pessimists seem to think they have a great chance to win the East this year.

I'm looking forward to Arkansas popping that balloon.  :razorback:

Here in East Mississippi folks I talk to show me that our belief in Ole Miss and their recruiting bonanza is not far fetched, and that MSU is doing it the right way but it will take too long to save Mullin's job... Also Ole Miss will take down Bama, Auburn and LSU with them if they get busted...

Ole Miss is closing in on a top 5 recruiting class in 2016.  It's been a good week.

Biggest talk about the Rebs though is the QB battle.  It's still up in the air (no pun intended) between Buchannan, Kincade, and Kelly.  I think Buchannan starts the season, but Kelly finishes it.

Georgia fans are firmly convinced they've got the cleanest program in the SEC. In fact they blame the docile nature of their players as being part of the problem they lose their killer instinct at times.
