Doesn't CBS get first choice of SEC game?
Why would they choose #18 Auburn at #13 LSU over the other big game, #15 Ole Miss at #2 Alabama?

Do they just think it will be a closer game or something? To me, it seems like the Ole Miss-Bama game is more intriguing.

Wild Boarnado

Just a guess, but last year CBS was denied the Iron Bowl because they broadcasted too many Alabama games. I'm guessing they are passing on the Ole Miss v. Bama game in an attempt to get the Iron Bowl this year.

Aaah, that makes sense. I didn't realize that was the case until you mentioned it, but I went back and looked:
http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/11/iron-egg-bowl-cbs-espn-tv-rights-ncaaf

Apparently it is written into the agreement that if CBS chooses any team five times during the season, then they lose first rights to that team. I guess that was written in to prevent over-saturation of any one team on one channel.

However, if Bama does lose to Ole Miss Saturday, then they become less attractive for broadcasters.

This game was also chosen before the season started. They had no idea Auburn would look so poor in their first two games and that Ole Miss would look so good.

Win or lose Bama games against UGA, LSU, & Auburn will be on CBS.  Depending on how the season goes, their games against UT and us, might also get picked up.

Last year ESPN got the Iron Bowl and the ratings set a record for ESPN, CBS doesn't want that to happen again.
