Boise State wide receiver Rick Smith is back home in Long Beach, Calif., after an alleged fight with a teammate sent him to the hospital.

Virtually nothing on this incident has come out of Boise, with head coach Bryan Harsin practically taking a vow of silence.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram has an explanation for the scene, through an anonymous source:

According to a source close to the family who wished to remain anonymous, Smith and a teammate were playfully slapboxing in the Boise State locker room on Feb. 9. When they were finished, Smith turned to walk away and the teammate allegedly struck him in the back of the head, knocking him into a locker, with Smith then collapsing onto the ground.

A&M sophomore receiver Frank Iheanacho has been arrested on charges of failure to identify and providing false/fictitious information, according to the Brazos County justice website.

The charges stem from a February shoplifting incident in a Bryan Wal-Mart, according to KZNE Radio in College Station, which first reported the arrest. Iheanacho, a sophomore from Westside High, posted $2,000 bond on Tuesday, the day of his arrest.

Iheanacho has been suspended from all athletics activities per athletic department policy, according to an A&M spokesman.

Iheanacho's arrest is the first known arrest of an A&M football player this offseason, following a busy offseason on the legal front a year ago for the Aggies...

Mississippi State wide receiver De'Runnya Wilson was one of four men arrested Friday night during a traffic stop in River Falls, Ala.

Wilson along with Artis Cleveland, Keith Middleton and Isaiah Maston were charged with second degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after being stopped for speeding on Highway 84 around 9 p.m. according to WFSA 12 News.

A K9 unit detected the drugs and all four men were booked in the Covington County Jail.

Wilson was the Bulldogs leading receiver in 2014, hauling in 47 passes for 680 yards...

What is going on in Starkville? Last Thursday, offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins was arrested on a simple assault warrant. But now, according to a report from SB Nation, it looks like the wrong player might have been arrested. The report shows two affidavits from the victim accusing Brandon Bryant and Grant Harris of assault, not Jenkins. Mississippi State released a statement Tuesday refuting the report, though it's still unclear what happened. Head coach Dan Mullen, who addressed the media after practice, said they are still investigating the situation and would handle all team discipline internally. This latest incident comes on the heels of the spring break attack involving quarterback Dak Prescott, and the arrest of wide receiver De'Runnya Wilson. Clearly, this is not the way the Bulldogs wanted to begin spring practice.

The new Gators head coach was handed his first arrest earlier this month as wide receiver Chris Thompson was arrested and charged with simple battery, also known as "dating violence." According to the police report, Thompson got into an argument with a former girlfriend after he received a text from another female and he scratched the woman's arms and neck while attempting to retrieve his phone.

State Attorney Bill Cervone just confirmed that there will be no formal charges against Florida wide receiver Chris Thompson.

Paperwork on Thompson was filed yesterday. Cervone said Thompson was entitled to defense of his property (his phone) in the case.

Cervone also said the alleged victim did not want to prosecute Thompson, her former boyfriend.

Butch Jones reinstated Thomas.  And now ... the rest of the story:

Campus police have obtained a felony theft warrant against former Vol defensive lineman Michael Sawyers.

Sawyers, 19, was identified as a suspect in the March 13 theft of a $640 Xbox and three video games from a student in Reese Hall, according to records.

Offensive lineman Coleman Thomas was cleared last week of theft in the same case and has been reinstated to the team.

According to records, authorities had not arrested Sawyers on Wednesday.

Football coach Butch Jones in February announced that Sawyers had been dismissed from the team for violating athletic department and team rules. Sawyers was a freshman from Antioch, Tenn., who had appeared in four games last season.

Sawyers had been rated a four-star recruit out of Ensworth High School in Nashville...

Alabama senior cornerback Cyrus Jones was arrested late Tuesday night and charged with third-degree domestic violence criminal mischief and third-degree domestic violence harassment, according to police records.

Police determined that Jones took and damaged the 22-year old victim's cell phone and threatened to assault her, according to a release from the Tuscaloosa Police Department.

Jones is the fourth Alabama player arrested since late March.

Auburn University football player Elijah Daniel along with two other individuals were arrested Wednesday evening and charged with several thefts in March from the South Donahue Residence Hall on the AU campus.

Daniel, 21; DeNorris James, 23, and Khalil Sellers, 21, were all charged with one count of burglary second degree, three counts of burglary third degree, one count of theft of property first degree, one count of theft of property second degree and two counts of theft of property third degree. James, a former athlete at Smiths Station High School, was listed on Auburn's spring football roster though he was not listed on the team's current roster as of Thursday morning. Sellers is a track athlete but is not listed on AU's track roster. All three men were tenants in the residence hall.

The Auburn Police Division stated Thursday that the reported thefts occurred March 29.

There are no additional suspects, however additional charges are possible.

James, Daniels, and Sellers were all transported to the Lee County Jail and each will be eligible for a $24,000 bond.

Regarding Daniel's arrest, Auburn head football coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement to the Opelika-Auburn News, "I am aware of the situation and Elijah has been suspended indefinitely from our team."

The city attorney agreed with the decision to dismiss the charges. Tuscaloosa police said there was sufficient probable cause to make the initial arrest.

Jones allegedly took and destroyed a 22-year old's cell phone.

EUFAULA — This spring was about developing trust within the Auburn football team.

With new coaches, new personnel and a new defensive scheme, head coach Gus Malzahn made that perfectly clear when the Tigers opened spring practice back in March and he said the theme was "Count On Me."

Trust between players. Trust between coaches. Trust all around.

Even after the dismissal this weekend of defensive end Elijah Daniel — who was arrested and charged last week on counts of burglary and theft — Malzahn feels confident in the trust among the team.

Daniel was among those Muschamp said he could rely on. Despite that, Malzahn did not seem overly concerned with other players breaking that trust.

"In his case it's very unfortunate," Malzahn said. "But overall we got a lot of great kids who are trying to do what we ask them to do on and off the field. I feel very good about the guys we have."

Texas Tech wide receiver Reginald Davis was arrested Monday for suspicion of marijuana

Junior safety Josh Keys was dismissed from the team in November for failing multiple drug tests. Freshman linebacker Grant Bouma received his walking papers last month after receiving a DWI arrest.

Davis ranked sixth on the team last year with 29 grabs for 318 yards and five touchdowns. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury praised the junior last month during spring practice.

ESPN Investigative Report: Gator, 'Nole athletes avoid legal charges more than other students, schools

The report shines a particularly harsh light on former Florida running back Chris Rainey and current Florida State associate athletic director Monk Bonasorte.

During his time in Gainesville, Rainey was named as a suspect in five crimes; he was charged once, the report noted. Additionally, Rainey, who infamously sent the "time to die, b***h!" text to his girlfriend, has been accused of three additional crimes in Gainesville since leaving the Gators and hasn't been charged in any of those cases...

...Dorial Green-Beckham had been a productive but troublesome player since joining the Tigers in 2012 as the top-ranked player in the country in that class. Following three twos — arrests, suspensions and police investigations — in less than two years, Mizzou announced that it was cutting its losses and dismissing the talented receiver.

The last incident that triggered his dismissal was by far the most disturbing as an incident report stemming from the report of a first-degree burglary stated that Green-Beckham pushed one woman down a several steps during a domestic incident.  The victims, one of whom was quoted in the incident report as stating she was afraid of the media and community backlash, declined to press charges, forcing the police to drop the case.

COLUMBIA — ESPN's "Outside the Lines" detailed 10 college's recent histories with crimes by athletes Sunday. Missouri played a prominent role in the report, which shed light on a previously unreported 2012 incident between former Tigers football player Dorial Green-Beckham and a woman who accused the since-dismissed wide receiver of pushing her.

According to an MU Police Department report, the alleged victim said Green-Beckham pushed her into a door frame "several times" in his South Hall dorm room on Nov. 11, 2012. Upon arriving at the scene, a police officer noticed red marks on the alleged victim's upper arms, and a "triangular scratch" on her lower left arm.

The alleged victim said the confrontation began when Green-Beckham approached her and accused her of telling her roommate — Green Beckham's girlfriend at the time — that the then-Missouri wideout had been cheating on her...

Charges against UGA football player dropped after officer who arrested him was fired

Three charges against a Georgia football player, including Drunk driving, were dropped recently since the Athens-Clarke County Officer who arrested him was fired from his job.

Outside linebacker Davin Bellamy [was booked in the] summer 2014 with two other misdemeanors within the situation: underage having alcohol and speeding.

Kris Ward, the arresting officer, was themself arrested on May 12 for allegedly sexually attacking a juvenile in the past. Ward was suspended with pay, but was ended after an interior matters analysis found he violated his oath of office along with other retail directives. He was billed with child molestation, irritated sexual battery and breach of oath of office.

Bellamy tweeted an apology last summer after his arrest " in my immaturity. ...I will gain your belief back."

LSU's four football players' arrests Thursday moved the Tigers into a first-place tie with Alabama in the SEC for most players arrested this calendar year (maybe ever).

A former defensive back for the University of Florida football team was formally charged Monday on suspicion of robbery and burglary from an April 18 incident at an apartment in southwest Gainesville.

Jerald Christopher "J.C." Jackson led two men — one of them armed with a handgun — into an apartment at Canopy Apartments, and those two men robbed everyone inside, taking two electronic gaming systems and $382 in cash, according to a Gainesville Police Department report.

Jackson was arrested on three counts of armed robbery and taken to the Alachua County jail. He was later released on a $150,000 bond, court records show.

As of earlier in the summer, Jackson was not expected to return to the UF. The redshirt freshman from Immokalee had planned to attend junior college if the charges filed against him in April were dropped...

Charles Mosley was arrested early Wednesday morning on charges of driving under the influence and speeding.

According to the incident report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the 18-year-old redshirt freshman was pulled over on Interstate 40 in Knox County shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning because he was driving 79 mph in a 55-mph zone on his way back to campus from an Econo Lodge on Lovell Road in West Knoxville.

The 6-foot-5, 370-pound Mosley, a former four-star recruit out of Brighton in western Tennessee, did not play last season while recovering from a broken leg suffered in a car accident in July 2014.

The arresting officer "noticed an odor of marijuana" coming from Mosley's vehicle and discovered "marijuana residue in the front passenger area and in the back seat" upon searching the vehicle, according to the incident report. When the officer asked Mosley about the marijuana odor, he told him he was not smoking, but that his friends at the Econo Lodge were.

Mosley took a field sobriety test and "performed poorly," the arresting officer wrote, and the player was then taken into custody. He was taken to the Knox County Detention Facility, where blood was drawn. He was released on bond at 9 a.m. and faces a July 29 court date.

Mosley was arrested because he was "intoxicated and a danger to himself," according to the incident report.
