What's your definition of "done?" Because he averaged 17 PPG this year and his %s show he shot the ball just fine. Sure, he's no longer an All-NBA player, but I don't think that should be the barometer for whether or not someone is "done."
Fair enough. I guess he's not the Dirk I'm used to seeing.  I do believe it's prime time for BP to transition into the offense.

Dirk should be a perfectly serviceable player for the next three or so years;  there are signs of wear and tear on his game, but lets not forget the guy is going to be 37 in a couple of months, and has over 51,000 minutes logged, between the regular season and playoffs.  Drop off is going to happen--  Father Time, as they say, is undefeated.

He's not a lead star for  a contender anymore, though.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I think he can be serviceable for longer than that, if he wants. Never was a player that relied on athleticism and he'll always be able to shoot over people at 7'0. I don't see him ever averaging single-digit points. I think he could average double-figures at 40 because of how he plays the game. Same thing with Duncan.

He's less shifty than Duncan, and plays a harder game to maintain;  I think Dirk's limited athleticism is going to show more on the defensive end, whereas the Spurs still scheme creatively to use Duncan well-- the Mavs, not so much.

When I say serviceable, I mean a guy that teams actually spend time gameplanning around, compared to teammates.   If there's any slippage at all in his game in the next year or two, he could easily become a 'designated shooter' type of roleplayer, and stick around for another 5-6 years.
