You have to have more than players to be a top notch program. You must be able to coach and keep them.

There's a good chance that he ends up with Martin at Mizzou, which means the #1 player in the country, Romar's godson, could follow.

Remember how well that worked for Ben Simmons and Johnny Jones! We're doomed!

Martin can coach circles around Jones. Not saying it makes Mizzou great, but they wouldn't be a cupcake, and they beat us this year.

Why worry about how good Mizzou might be. Heck, we lost to them this season with the team they had.

He already signed the dotted line at UW. More than likely they will release him like we did Igadoula (dammit). It is the right thing to do, but is not required. If they refuse, he will be sitting out or shooting hoops in Beijing next year.

UW already said, according the bottom line on ESPN, they will allow players to have their release due to the coaching change.

Haha, we better get with the program and take these yahoos seriously. It's a really big deal to them to beat us.

That can happen when you take two coaches away from them.
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

It would be nice for the SEC if Mizzou was good.  Having a potential bad loss in conference is not ideal.

My hope is that every SEC team could be top 100 RPI.  That's a realistic goal, as we only had four teams outside the top 100 this year and only two outside the top 150.

Yes.
I've observed this as well. They will always be more fired up to play us than Ark is to play them. Definitely true for football and basketball.
There are other schools I would put in that category as well: Memphis and Oklahoma State.
Mizzou has a chip on their shoulder due to us taking some coaches, but I've observed they just tend to look down on Arkansas for some reason. They always seem fired up.
Ok St has a chip because they've always looked up to 'big brother' Oklahoma, and some of that carries over to 'big brother SEC team' Arkansas.
Memphis, mostly hoops, has always had a burr under their saddle being surrounded by bigger SEC schools like Ark, Tenn, Alabama, and Ole Miss.
My observations are over a long period of time...not just because Ok St drilled us this year, although that game is a good example. Those guys couldn't wait to play us.

Obviously Ark State would fit that category as well, but we will not schedule them. But when they finally had a chance to play us in the Women's NIT back then, they were frothing at the mouth at the chance. Of course, they won.

If only he would have gotten his team to the NCAAT like Mike Anderson did with the Hogs then maybe he'd have a job but he didn't so his loss. Don't care. Go Hogs!  :razorback:

Hogsanity, we have to find a junior or two because the roster will have no juniors next year   :razorback:

Having lopsided classes was only a problem when Stan Heath did it.

It's perfectly fine and dandy nowadays.
I said...LSU has often been an overrated team.

i found it interesting as well that Porter has 2 younger brothers that can also ball, 1 being a 4 star in 2018 that is quiet the instant pipeline if all follow to Missou.  Another curious tidbit to me was how former NBA player and Udub star B. Roy starting coaching the high school the Porter kids play for, for one year and is now being talked about as a replacment for Romar.

Its an issue because of how we've had to fill gaps with JUCOs, instead of having natural progressions through the roster.

Ideally, we need to pick a year to sort of purge that poison from the program.  Next year might be it, as long as we can count on full yearly classes coming to the Hill, from regular recruits, and stop the transfer problem.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

There has also been some transfers out.
