Will Muschamp visits his 'love' College Station once again http://m.chron.com/sports/aggies/article/Will-Muschamp-visits-his-love-College-12240976.php ... via @houstonchron

QuoteCOLLEGE STATION – A little more than five years ago Will Muschamp cracked a joke at a Florida fan gathering that sticks with him today.

The joke – not the Florida fan gathering. They've moved on to Jim McElwain.

"You ever been to College Station? It'll be the only time you go," Muschamp kidded.

A&M coach Kevin Sumlin responded at the time, "He needs to worry about his own team."

In 2012 Florida was entering its second season with Muschamp as coach, and that year A&M played its first game as an SEC member against the Gators. Florida prevailed 20-17 at Kyle Field in Johnny Manziel's debut game as A&M quarterback.

Muschamp had served as Texas's defensive coordinator from 2008-10, hence the background for his College Station barb. Now Muschamp brings his South Carolina Gamecocks to Kyle Field at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and this week Sumlin sent a message to A&M fans via Sumlin's weekly radio show with host Dave South.

"We all know how much he loves College Station," Sumlin said of his buddy Muschamp. "We need to give him a College Station welcome ..."

Texas A&M rallies to defeat South Carolina, move to 4-1 w/ Alabama at Kyle Field up next: http://www.chron.com/sports/aggies/article/Texas-A-M-rallies-to-defeat-South-Carolina-12243988.php ... via @houstonchron

QuoteA&M has made a habit of turning second-half shortfalls into victories, and in the end breathless fans don't mind –

Gamecocks led 17-7 in the third quarter and 17-10 early in the fourth when the A&M offense finally came alive –

A&M (4-1, 2-0) has overcome second-half deficits or ties in its last four games: wins against Nicholls State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas and now South Carolina (3-2, 1-2).

Also overcame a large lead at UCLA.

South Carolina offense going in circles as season hangs in balance http://scne.ws/PrbLhj

QuoteNo football coach wants a one-dimensional offense, but one dimension would seem like progress for South Carolina at this point.

By the end of Saturday's 24-17 loss to Texas A&M, the Gamecocks were down to no dimensions, unable to run the ball for so long that they were unable even to throw it in the second half, and powerless to stop the Aggies from grinding away what had been a 17-7 South Carolina lead.

"We have to figure out ways to generate more points," Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp said.

Even consistent first downs would be progress at this point. South Carolina (3-2, 1-2 SEC) didn't have a first down in the first quarter. Then it found a rhythm, gaining 271 yards and scoring all 17 of its points in a five-possession stretch that covered the second and third quarters. Then it lost it again, totaling minus-2 yards on its final five possessions of the game.

Saturday was the kind of game that gets "

'Youth' keeps coming up  to describe Texas A&M. So why exactly are the Aggies so young under Sumlin? http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/article/Why-youth-abounds-for-Texas-A-M-in-Kevin-Sumlin-s-12239227.php ...

QuoteWhen the Aggies (3-1, 1-0) traveled to Arlington last Saturday in an overtime defeat of Arkansas, a whopping 55 of the 83 players listed on the game-day roster were either freshmen or sophomores. To date the Aggies have played 18 true freshmen, 11 redshirt freshmen and 13 sophomores, and the amount of true freshmen used in four games already matches most in a season in program history.

All of this isn't a newsflash to Sumlin, who's acutely aware of his youthful roster six years in at A&M. He used "young" on at least five occasions this week discussing the state of his program in preparation for the Aggies' 6:30 p.m. Saturday game against South Carolina at Kyle Field.

The $5 million question: How did it come to this for A&M, which hasn't so much as sniffed an SEC West title since finishing tied for second in the division in its first year in the league in 2012?
