Nick Schmidt took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and pitched a complete game, leading Arkansas to a 6-0 victory over Alabama Wednesday in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament.
Schmidt (10-3) allowed only two hits, the first coming when Brandon May led off the eighth with a hard-hit grounder that barely made it past diving shortstop Tim Smalling. It was the second time this season that Alabama has broken up a no-hit bid in the eighth.
