has the resources to buy out a coaches contract. Take a read

http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/po...ble-team-in-sec

I see the link did not work. What was said was that Arkansas was 17th in football revenue at $59,000,000 with $20,000,000 of that being profit.

Sorry about the link

Nothing compared to the financial hole that Frank left us in.

Profit is one thing - managing cash flow is a totally different animal.

Many nonproducing male and female sports at UA. 20M profit for the UA is a drop in the bucket and probably the only sport making one.

Once again cryptic statements that are unsupported. Which holes would those be?

The U of A athletic department is financially sound.

Fundraising concerns exist for most all entities in this sluggish economy but the overall picture is just fine.

Basketball has always made a profit as well (at least before this year), and I believe I heard somewhere a couple years ago that baseball was starting to produce a small profit.

How about the new softball stadium?    Things like that don't just drop out of the sky.

You can build, but the bill comes due eventually.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Exactly. If the sport that generates the excess stands on it's own, then it looks really good. But when you subsidize the rest of your programs with that profit, it can be used up pretty quick.

They do when the Bogles give you the money to build it.

They were the 'lead givers';  they did not fund the stadium in whole;  neither, for that matter, have many of the other construction projects on campus for non-revenue sports been paid for in whole.
