That may be true.  We'll find out soon since the month of January will quickly determine where we stand in the basketball world of college basketball.

I agree that this win was very important. Not so sure about the tournament.  Let see how we do in conference play first.

Fortson will make this team completely different and in a good way.  We probably already did too much damage to our resume to even be considered, unless we go 12-4 in the SEC, which we aren't going to do.  I really would've liked to see what this team would've been like had we had all of the players available for the entire season.  I think we'd probably be sitting at about 10-2 or 11-1.  Oh well.  Just gotta go with what we have.

While many are dogging you, the truth is we COULD be with our entire team in place and Washington with a healthy back. We do not lose those games earlier in the year with the team we had on the floor tonight. Add Fortson to the mix, and the team is not nearly as bad as most on here believe just using the record to gauge performance. Half our team has been suspended and is the key factor in our early season losses to inferior teams.

I for one am ready to admit that I'm stunned that we beat that team without Fortson.  I think that we can safely say that the team has improved greatly from the ETSU, Morgan State games.  I'm not sure about the USA game given them beating Florida tonight, but some very good improvement nonetheless. 

If, and thats a HUGE IF, they can gel at least somewhat seamlessly when Fortson gets back, they can make a legitimate run at the NIT and maybe a bubble berth.

If that happens... (and I can't believe I'm about to post this)... we may look back and see that benching Fortson was a very good move that forced the team to mature in ways that would have been impossible with him on the floor. 

Then again, this win could have just been a win over an overblown Missouri State team. 

Either way, you don't get much more ardently against Pel than I have been and this game made me reconsider my views on his ability to coach.  Not change them, mind you, but reconsider.

While we are playing the "if" game, if we do get Fortson back and if we have a solid rest of the year, the selection committee will consider the suspensions when analyzing the early season blunders. We would have to be at least 10-6, with wins over a couple of the leagues top teams to be a bubble team. A win over Baylor would be another step in the right direction.

Don't know, kind of doubt the NCAA...will have to see about the NIT.  One thing for sure this team is growing/developing, and will get better in time.

Who knows with Pel.  I think we all know if you throw in Fortson this is a team with enough talent to play in the tourney.  But with Pel it's just too hard to predict.  And we're in a pretty big hole already.

team or not. Down a ways into the SEC schedule we'll have a better perspective

At this point we would not make it if they expanded to 128 teams. However, bids aren't handed out until March. Once we finally have our complete team, this team will be much better than many on here predicted.

Could that have anything to do with half the team being suspended? We will see how they do with all the players dressed out and ready to go. The complete team is not that bad, we just haven't seen it yet.
