can someone please pull up the quote from FCW where he was praising Pel as "the guy" to get us back to where we once were.....

At least to prove once and for all, FCW is just a blowhard with a megaphone.

I'm beginning to believe that Forrest City Joe isn't a person, it's a macro. I wish the computer it was running on would crash.

If not a macro, then I wish his Ctrl-V button would stop working.

"Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick" "Cant coach a lick"

Long can spin all he wants. this basketball program is in big trouble. and his wasting time with Pel aint gonna change that. going a record making 2 and 14 in the sec. and losong 21 of our last 25 games is a total disgrace. what's it going to take for Long to wake up?

Joe, he's awake. I think its bests to wait before making a move.

We can't hire a new coach til next season anyways, so just let this season play out.

I understand your thinking for making a move now, but there is just as much reason to wait (not because of Pel, but to take the pressure off the possible candidates).

Looks like all of 10 people actually believe Jeff Long.

Quote from: jacksonpollackEvery time I look around in BWA I get dizzy. It is hard to judge the capacity. During the Auburn game I tried to count all the people in attendance but got lost at around 30,000.

i was told it was around 8k per game. while still a lot, its no where CLOSE to 19k. and idk that MA would be the man to change that. who knows. but after this year pel's replacement will be like obama, the anti bush, everyone loves him (at least for a while). the next coach will be the anti-pel.

He did not go 4 and 12 in confrence last year. try 2 and 14. with the only 2 wins coming against Bama and UGA, who had just fired their coaches. this guy would have been fired at any other self respecting program. I disagree bigtime with Long on this!

FCJ, you know when Pel starts winning you will climb back on the wagon, so just wait it out and relax

Amen, it is so rare to see coach and a AD do things the right way. Build a solid program from the ground up. Make sure the players are "Student" atheletes. Punish those who do the wrong things even if it means losing games. The ship will be righted. Recruiting will continue to improve. Pel will continue to be our coach. This year is understood by Long. Next season will be the measuring stick.

You still haven't seen a coach and AD want to do things the right way.

As for the "this year is understood by Long" comment.  What is to be understood?  Pelphrey took a flyer on two-thirds of a recruiting class.  Now he has to try and straighten it up.  It's not like he didn't bring the problem to Arkansas.

really? is that what they are doing? wow, they must be poor judges of character - since they have recruited precious few "student athletes." lol. what a joke.

i wish pel would go now. he needs to go now. however, long will keep him for the season. however, long has already had to give a couple public statements of support - you can only do this so many times until your capital runs out.

its not as easy a decision to get rid of pelphrey as many think.  Firing Pelphrey is a very high risk move

How so? We can't get much worse.

MM and DW are to be lauded as Arkansas sports heroes for their overall contribution, not just on the playing field during one season, but also for the sacrifices that they made which ensured the dismantling of the Frank Broyles machine.

We could be winless, have no incoming talent on the horizen, and have impending NCAA sanctions coming.

It can definitely be much worse.

I used to argue with HA about how Pel ran the basketball team.  I've since learned to like and respect him.  In fact, I'd go as far to say that HA is well connected or extremely perceptive. - Porkatarian, 11/7/12

That is not much worse.

It is a world worse.

There's this mindset that permeates message board communities, that somehow, there are not any less attractive alternatives than the current situation, because those possibilities are so very hard to stomach that they are best never contemplated.

A 4-20 stretch is bad, for example.  It hurts.   Several 4-20 stretches are much worse-- but no one wants to think about that.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I'm glad we have a coach that is trying to do the right things.Would ya'll rather hire a Calipari and have the program  totally destroyed?Short cuts are  not the answer.NO PAIN NO GAIN! Let Pel do things the right way now and we will be a great program again.
