    New Southwest Conference

1, Arkansas
2, Baylor
3, LSU
4, New Mexico
5, Oklahoma
6, Oklahoma state
7, TCU
8, Texas
9, Texas A&M
10,Texas Tech

I added New Mexico for three reasons. 1st, It balances the conference with 5 texas and 5 non-texas programs. 2nd, All the states surround the state of Texas. 3rd, It gives the conference a more southwest feel.

Keep both east and west division- winner of each division plays in SEC championship

9 conference game schedule-

A. 3 permanent: (intraquad), 6 rotating 2 from every other quad every two years (play a home and an away) -or-

B. 6 permanent: 3 intraquad and 4 vs. crossquad (SW for us) and 2 rotating vs. east division (1 north and 1 south quad)

I think 'B' works better to decide a true east and west division champion.

Not sure if he grew up in New Mexico, lives in New Mexico, has relatives in New Mexico, owns retail property in Albuquerque, graduated from the University of New Mexico or has kids going to the University of New Mexico, but he promotes the University of New Mexico as a viable inclusion in darn near every post regarding this topic. I don't get their inclusion or what he thinks they bring to the table for any P-5 conference, but he is sold on them. As if Albuquerque, NM is the epicenter of big time college football?

As far as places to visit for away games I would take New Mexico over every Texas spot and the Oklahoma ones.

I don't think expansion will revolve around my favorite tourist spots though.

Baylor, TCU and MSU have been in a "major" conference a long time except when TCU lost out on going to the little 12 initially but they worked their way back in by wait for it.........................good football. USCe had a lot more to bring to the table than Memphis or Ltech does.

Taos is a great place to go SKI. That doesn't mean that the University of New Mexico is ready to join any P5 conference. Besides I don't care in the least about having a southwest "feel". We've been there and done that with the old defunct SWC and it sucked.

Oh I don't know, if a person wants a return to a feel of somewhat once was, I wouldn't mind seeing a 12 team conference with two 6 team divisions that included:

Arkansas
Baylor
Texas
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
TCU
Tulsa
Houston
Rice
SMU
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State

But we all know that will never happen. Lower travel expense for all teams. More of a regional feel to the conference. Smaller teams benefit by being a part of a conference involving bigger name brand schools. A semi-reorganization of the old SWC with three additions. It would ruin recruiting for us to some degree in Texas, or would it?

I like our current arrangement but it does make it more difficult for us to make it to a CCG and the Play Offs.

Oh yeah, I know and really, I wouldn't advocate a change from where we are now to a conference like that and besides, I don't think anyone could broker a deal to include all of those schools, especially Texas. I'm sure the smaller schools would love that arrangement but the t.v. deal wouldn't be anywhere near as lucrative as what we have in the SEC.

Perhaps it's because they have been in a P5 conference a long time AND play decent football now. UNM couldn't beat a decent high school team.
