Quote from: Pudgepork on Yesterday at 09:45:39 pmTo Cal being at Arkansas.  Spectating during Kevin's show, UK fans were very upfront and open in that Cal doesn't cross their mind.

I think they have made the transition into the Pope era at UK with no regrets.
I don't think the news that they also lost Big Z in the transition bothered them.   They seemed to spend the evening trying to help Arkansas fans know what a great coach that Arkansas hired.

I hope and pray that Pope is every bit as successful at UK as he was at BYU.
Bless the BBNs hearts

I, for one, appreciated your sarcasm.

For some reason Alabama and Vanderbilt have had our number in recent years.

On the other hand, we've had a lot of success against LSU and Auburn.

It's hard to explain.

Quote from: Inhogswetrust on Yesterday at 09:43:31 pmWhat? Wait? They have to eat? Damn. I wouldn't have believed it if you hadn't posted it.

You know what I mean.

Players are still trying to lose/gain/maintain weight per the S/C and coach's requests. That all happens primarily in the kitchen, not in the gym.

It was asked 'what can the players do'. Not getting fat b/w now and summer isn't super easy for a lot of players. Losing muscle mass because you aren't eating enough is also easy for a lot of players. Simply maintaining their current condition is very much a non-trivial task for them in this dead period, not to mention players who need to lose fat or gain muscle.

Quote from: shshark00 on Yesterday at 08:41:06 pmMakes plenty of sense if they decide not to transfer to another Power 4 and go down a level in order to get immediate playing time. And while I have no intention of digging through every NCAA team's depth chart, I'd take the odds that there are multiple Power 4 teams who's depth chart looks more appealing to attempt to break into. Especially for whichever one gets the official 3rd string tag.

There's no power 4, just a power 2.5 (B1G, SEC, and barely ACC). And at this late of a stage, a better depth chart is like how 10 lotto tickets gives you a better chance of winning. Technically true, but realistically, the odds are still greatly stacked against you.

The problem is, this late into the off-season, you could be noticeably more talented than the guys above you and still sit on the bench because a) you don't know the offense as well, b) you don't have chemistry with the team, and c) they are literally both still freshmen and have a lot to learn. If either of them were lighting it up against our #1's on defense, maybe there'd be a chance. But, they didn't, and that's okay, because again, both Singleton and Jackson are freshmen.

As for bumping down a level, what does that really get them? I'm sure it's more fun to play than be a backup, but is that going to be useful experience playing against FCS talent? We aren't the best defense in the P2.5 by any stretch, but I'd wager that practice against us is worth more than playing against FCS.

Further, it's way to early to relegate them to the lower rankings forever. However, if they risked dropping down a level, then it's probably two seasons before they have shown enough to get an offer to move back up to a power conference again. If they stay in the power leagues, Singleton for sure is just one year removed from being ready to genuinely push for a power starting job. Possibly Jackson as well. Also, Jackson hasn't even been here for a single game yet. It'd be crazy to come here for a month or two and then quickly jump out. Sure, there are a handful of cases of people doing that, but it's still quite rare.

tl;dr: This late in the game, raw talent isn't the only factor in starting. Both guys will still be freshmen this upcoming season. Dropping down a level delays their potential to start for a power team, and their experience against FCS opponents IMO isn't worth the practice experience against SEC team.

I have seen plenty enough to know that it did bother a larger portion than you are giving credit for.

Great pickup.  Modern big man who will probably fill out a little this off-season.

Reminds me of a better shooting version of  Ivica Zubac for the Clippers
