Must be nice to have knowledgeable fans and powers that be that care.
I'm only responsible for what I say, not how you perceive it.

Nebraska? You want to be NEBRASKA?!

They might just try again

HoggyCat

At least they don't stand for mediocrity.... and then use academics as leverage when the onfield product is a failure in order to keep the wool over the sheeps eyes.

Oh, and we're just 10th in sec football academically.

Nebraska>Arkansas

A once storied program, they are now an also ran, to be forgot about for years to come because they were too finicky. I'd feel bad for those fans, but they did it to themselves, not unlike here.

If it can happen to Nebraska, it sure as hell can happen here.

Forgive me, they are a pillar of wise decisions and are reaping the rewards of listening to their hyper sensitive fan base.

You should always sympathize with the fans, its the power brokers who call the shots and muck things up. The average Joe just has to go with the flow.

Then again, I sense some strains of sarcasm. Seems sensible if so.

See what happens here if we continue to lose..you sure the hell won't like that.
Will I live long enough to see us win again? Will any of us?

Nebraska fans > Arkansas fans.  Ain't even close.  They pack the house for marquee games, paycheck games, spring games regardless of Ws and Ls.  If the Huskers are playing Memorial Stadium is full.
Don't be scared, be smart.

Hows Nebraska in other sports. You do realize these guys are the Director of Athletics and not the Director of Football. Sure football is the money maker but they do more than just that.

It was more hyperbolic then sarcastic. Some fans got what they wanted, the others I do feel bad for because they essentially lost their team. That's what I fear will happen here if the loudest fans got their way.

doesn't this mean the Head coach is also fired hehe?

I would love to be the Nebraska of ole, I am not saying they arent a better program, but that they are a shell of what they should be because they had unrealistic expectations and thought they would find the next Nick Saban

Yeh, Pelini was the Romo of Nebraska.  Husker AD let him stick around way too long producing 8 win seasons, especially considering the crappy attitude he had week in and week out.

Yeah, they really turned it around since then.

If you want to troll some Nebraska folks:

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

How long's it been, two seasons?  In case you haven't heard it takes a minimum of 6 seasons to complete a minor remodeling of a program.

Mike Riley just got a contract extension a few weeks ago, then loses to N. Ill last week and now the AD gets fired..according to many they are linked. Many at the time thought it was a stupid thing to do, apparently they were right and now the AD is gone.   Hum.......

When the AD makes repeated mistakes at managing his most important by far program, it makes sense to make a change.

Not necessary to post Nebraska's history.   But that is what it is.  Brand has really faded.  Still a good job but not near what it was.
Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

Producing 8 win seasons?  Please show me how many 8 win seasons he had. As a matter of fact let's count how many 8 or less in a season he had.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_Pelini

Probably should look and see what his actual record is there before making crap up.

True, they've slipped from near dynasty to mostly 9+ win seasons with the occasional .500 one.  Riley's gone 6-7, 9-4 his first two there and is a good fit.
