Purdue at Missouri | Who has the edge?

QuoteMissouri running game vs. Purdue against the run

One of the most talented running backs on the schedule this season – sophomore Damarea Crockett – benefits from a starting offensive line that features five 300-pounders. Crockett had only two carries in the second half last week after leaving with a bruised tailbone but is expected to play. Dealing with the Tigers' mammoth line is the priority No. 1 for Purdue's defensive front. Although the Boilermakers improved against the run last week, this is a different test. Edge: Missouri

Tario Fuller, D.J. Knox and Richie Worship along with solid play from the offensive line gave the ground game a lift. Fuller had a breakout game with 142 yards but Worship was a key blocking piece in the production. The Tigers are known for their defensive linemen and feature a pair of preseason All-SEC second-team selections in tackle Terry Becker, Jr. and end Marcell Frazier. The Tigers fired their defensive coordinator after two games, in part to provide a spark to a struggling group. Edge: Missouri

Prediction
Missouri 44, Purdue 41

Purdue Football's signature beer is the most exciting thing about Purdue Football

QuotePurdue football hasn't been worth mentioning on the national stage since Drew Brees graduated over 16 years ago. This isn't SEC bias...

Here's @Ben_Fred on #Mizzou: Tigers look like quitters as they're no match for Purdue http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/ben-frederickson/benfred-tigers-look-like-quitters-as-they-re-no-match/article_02fb871b-6708-5b11-9150-e1a80b793a87.html ... via @stltoday

QuoteCOLUMBIA, Mo. • It's the single-worst thing you can say about a team, an indictment of every player and the man they call their coach.

It never should be used lightly, and it isn't in this case.

But, unfortunately for Barry Odom and those who believed the former linebacker would succeed at the alma mater he so dearly loves, it is the only accurate way to describe what played out in front of a thinning crowd on Saturday afternoon on Faurot Field:

It looked an awful lot like his players packed it in. Gave up. Quit.

The result: Purdue 35, Mizzou 3.

Forget for a moment the latest collapse by a defense that can't tackle, can't cover and can't stop the most routine plays —

Missed this yesterday. Fatony was MU's best player but ... not a good look.

In fairness, Fatony said after the game he needed to work on his celebration.
