Morning Lines

Why does horse racing set a morning line?  I would much prefer it be like the dogs and let the money be the only dictating factor.

Doesn't the dog race program post M/L odds next to each entry? It used to.

I don't place my bets until a minute before the race at most.  I don't even look at the odds until 10 mtp usually

Some old school players I know won't bet the Ml favorite if he's not the betting favorite at post time , they also don't bet  maiden races either !!! But they can dig up some big price winners every now and then ....

best piece of advice my grandfather ever gave me was to never bet a horse that is coming off a maiden claiming win
