Nobody is happier about it that Jimmy "How about those Cowboys?" Johnson.

Quote from: deserthog on Today at 11:56:15 amWhy pinch hit Hedgecock? She's been the worst hitter on the team. Just don't understand that move at all.

I'm wondering the same thing.  The only reason my measley mind can come up with is that if Hedgecock, a senior, could get a base hit and tie the game it would give Rylin a great memory she would have the rest of her life.  It was a gamble, it didn't work out, and there's no guarantee HanCam would've gotten a hit.

I hope our young ladies bow up, say "enough of this", and come out playing free and aggressively in their next games.

This Jimmy Johnson not our JJ.

Just to clarify, because some posts on this thread don't seem to understand this, but there are a whole lot of weird sports that are varsity (not club) at certain schools. And if they're varsity, they fall under Title IX. No, club sports don't fall under T-IX, but that's not what we're talking about.

Somebody mentioned rowing. There are 89 Division I schools with varsity rowing, including Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma. (There are also 39 men's rowing varsity programs, although it is not an NCAA recognized sport).

And beach volleyball. There are at least 68 D-I varsity BVB programs, including LSU and UCA. And Hendrix has a D3 program as well; yes they have a Battle of Conway on the sand.

My guess is, if and when Arkansas adds another women's sport, first on the list would be equestrian, which is already an official SEC sport offered at four schools. It's not an NCAA sport either, but that doesn't matter (Vandy has bowling which also isn't an NCAA sport.)

Title IX is largely about scholarships but not completely. If the men's basketball team has a $5 million dressing room and the women dress in a double-wide trailer, you can bet the disparity in facilities would be cited in a T-IX complaint somewhere, as we saw in the Oregon lawsuit.

I would go with 9-10 vs. 8-9 just in case of injury
