The idea for the redwolves and the reason it may become the ASU mascot has to do with the Razorbacks.  Apparenty, redwolves are the #1 enemy of the razorbacks in the wild.  That is why alot of people from this area like the redwolves as their choice of mascot. 

However, I live close to Jonesboro and can't get into ASU atheletics.  I love sports but have never been an ASU fan especially after the Lady Razorbacks played the ASU Lady Indians in basketball.  I was there sporting my Razorback apparel and I was screamed at, guys got in my face and yelled ugly stuff, but worse than that was the moron that ran around the court with the ARKANSAS state flag upside down.  How stupid was he?  Isn't it Arkansas State University?

Really, maybe people were yelling at you because you were the jerk. Or maybe because you were wearing the opponents gear. Did you expect them to cheer because you had on Hog stuff. Have you ever been to an away game anywhere.

I lived in jonesboro for 6 years, wore tons of Razorback apparel around town and on campus and not one person EVER said anything negative towards me.

And your flat out lying about the Red Wolves as the mascot. First of all they dont prey on Hogs they eat rabbits and small rodents because they are smaller that other wolves. Secondly I believe it was suggested as a mascot because it was native to North East Arkansas but now they are endangered and are only found in National Parks.

I've been to plenty of away games.  You attacked me on everything except the stupid guy who ran around with the flag upside down.  You don't even know me and you call me a jerk.  I was at the game cheering on the Lady Razorbacks and people got in my face yelling.  I was walking to the other side of the gym and I didn't say a word to anyone. 

Before you call me a jerk, maybe you should look in the mirror and evaluate yourself first.  I said nothing about you or to you.  I was just stating my experience at a ASU ladies basketball game.

Yeah, why not just call them the Red Skinned Savages for Godsakes. The one that pisses me off the most if the Washington Redskins. Horrible. Makes me sick. whenever a U of A score is announced, whether it be football or basketball if the Hogs are behind the crowd cheers and if the Hogs are ahead all you hear is boos.

All I know is anytime ASU is mentioned on this board someone will always come up with the same story. "I was going through Jonesboro or I went to one place with my Hog gear on and someone yelled at me"  Its always the same story. Fine, if it did happen to you but if you go to a LSU game and some drunk cajun yells tiger bait do you get all upset. I mean what do you expect at an away game.

Rather ironic that something forced on them turned out to be one of the best things that has happened. Gave them a rather unique identity, and you will be hard presses to find any A-State fan that would want to be anything but Red Wolves.
