Option 3, Long stays BB goes. I just do not think they want to be looking for a new HC for football and for a AD at the same time.

We need to fire both, especially Jeffy, but I don't think that'll happen, at least this year.

Hopefully the higher-ups will force Long to fire Bert and then keep him away from the hiring process for the new coach.

Yes, compared to the Jeff Long route that brought us, or almost brought us:

Grobe
Bowden

Bert

And brought Pittsburgh Wannstedt

He's had one success, Petrino, and he fired him.
And he's had one so-so hire, Anderson.  The jury's still out on that one.
Both Petrino and Anderson had backers pushing Jeffy to hire them.

I'm leaving out the other sports because I don't follow them enough to evaluate the jobs those hires have done.
