Will this FINALLY be the year we awake the sleeping giant (hog ball and rockin Bud Walton Arena)?  I certainly hope so!

So nice to have basketball season back...especially with the way football is going...

I think we'll have a good answer to that question in ten days time. Still expecting some ups and downs but I believe the downs won't be quite as deep nor as long. Watch out for this group come March!

Depends, young teams historically don't travel well. Our Sr guards will be key. This team can be very special if they can dial in in the road.

Well, then, be thankful we're not a young team!

Yes, our 6 seniors will be key to being stabilizing forces this coming week end.

If Gafford can learn to stay out of foul trouble this could be special year. He is that good.

Yes, we'll know this weekend.

We've been back for 2 years already;  we're just pushing up the hill of 15 years of built up irrelevance-- which we will have to do this year, too.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

So you don't think our best inside and defensive talent is young? The point is our difference makers are young guys. The difference between a first round loss and sweet 16 run is with our young guys.

The point is if our Sr guards can bring consistent scoring, leadership, and keep our young guys minds right we can be special.

So, well, then, be thankful for reading comprehension!

Yep, six seniors on this team (one currently suspended), maybe the most seniors on one team we've had in decades.  The difference makers, with the exception of Gafford, are all upperclassmen.  Once the whole team is back, Gafford is the only freshman who'll get big minutes, though Hall should get some.  When half or more of your rotation consists of seniors, it's hard to say you're young or re-building, but I see people still give it a try!

We have a good team, and I think it will be a good year, but I don't see a go-to 3-pt shooter, which our really good teams have had in the past.

Fortunately we have three good three point shooters.  Both Macon and Beard are proven to shoot between 35% and 40% from three, based on last year, and Barford appears to now be at that level too, based on the three games so far this year.  If we have an Achilles heal, I don't think it's three point shooting.  After all, Macon had our highest three point percentage last year, and he's back.

Pinto

You guys are sleeping on Barfords ability to shoot the three this year.

Agree to disagree. We have 3 SR guards who will be the leaders of this team.

Trey is a contributor but not a difference maker on either end. Dustin and Arlando, well, again defensive contributors who will get some boards. All blue collar guys who play key roles.

Difference makers: Adrio, CJ, Gafford, Hall, Garland.

Leaders: Barford, Macon, Beard

The key to this season being average versus special is in the play of the young guys and SR guards.

Happy Thanksgiving

With all the scandals going on in recruiting, our program could really rise quickly.
