Hmm, link works fine for me.

About the only stats that Jeter is on the top end at is fielding % and fewest errors.

The main reason... he doesn't get to nearly the amount of balls that others do.

I'd do the same. LaRussa's a nutjob and would probably throw at his head.

Link worked fine.  So he gets to less balls, but throws a lot less into the other teams dugout than most.
Let's make some waves.

Dunno why my cell puts the quote up 3 times like that on occasion.

Those of us in the sports investing thread have gotten used to it, Jeff.  ;)

The fact that Jeter has gold gloves is literally a common joke used by people in the industry.

People in the industry? Lmfao really.  Sooooo where in the "industry" do you fit in.  Manager, GM, Beat writer, journalist, blogger?  You must know a lot of people in the "industry".  Who keeps giving him those gold gloves? Are the iron workers and waste management , and contractors in the Bronx the only people that are allowed to vote?

Please enlighten us with the names of those in the "industry" that think it's a joke.

LOL, you're obviously a meatball baseball fan, who "knows what he's seen with his own eyes".  The gold glove has been a joke at most positions for years.  The offensive game has influenced it, which is BS obviously.

A lot easier to make the throws when you are only fielding the easy ones with your feet set.

I'm a big Jeter fan, but it really isn't even a question, he is a liability in the field. His range is severely lacking.

Then I suppose what you are telling me is you are the math geek numbers guru who assigns an equation to everything that happens on the field, court, or ice.  Sorry doesn't work that way.

I am not the one that brought up gold gloves, and whether or not Jeter deserved any of them I couldn't tell you.  I don't think he is anywhere neat the best defensive shortstop in te AL much less the entire league.  He also however is not nearly as bad as many on here like to say.  That's what I am defending. It's Jeter and its the Yankees.  People couldn't help the loathing and hate.  It's hat they live to do.

Hey I promise you.  Had to Cubbies won the World Series last year you wouldn't care if Jeter won a gold glove or not :)

I'm good with numbers yes, but I don't put full stock in sabermetrics.  However, say what you will, but Jeter has been a liability at SS for most of his career.  Numbers back it up.

Now, honestly, I would care what Jeter did regardless, as I fully believe he's one of the most over rated players of his time.

Stating that, I'm not saying he's not a great player.  Just like I said earlier in the thread; he and Biggio compare very favorably, yet Biggio is a fringe hall of famer at best, whereas Jeter will be first ballot all because of where they played geographically.

Biggio in that Yankee line-up without having the pitcher hitting in front of him most of his career would have put up even better numbers than he did.

Ask almost any scout if Jeter is a good fielder.  You'll get a confused look.

And no, not a blogger.

Glad to see Nolan stay and Jon play nice.   This team going to have a good year inspite of losing some talent and having the Nolan issue over the Winter break.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

I'd be far more angry over 8 years 120 mil extension for Elvis Andrus.

That's an albatross of a contract.
He keeps having seasons like this year and last year and this deal is a bargain.

Even if he gives you two more years at this production,  its not a good deal if you are figuring out how to pay him for less the last 4.   And  .300 /20 HR/90 RBI/30 SB is not worth $15M a year--  but who knows, maybe he opts out and demands even *more* money, as he can do that the next two years.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."
