I've been doing my own personal research which means absolutely nothing to anybody that matters. But anyway, with all the info I've looked up the past couple days, I have a new #1 on my wishlist and that is Scott Frost. Now I'm not dumb enough to think he would actually come here but still, doesn't mean he can't be my favorite.

First things first there's no way a guy like that, that's an outsider would come here without knowing who his boss will be. So we would have to have an AD in place to even be an option. I do hope whoever the new AD is, he will be someone great to work for. Someone that all the coaches love having him as their boss. That automatically puts you in the position to potentially get guys that you may not normally have been able to attract, just by having a great boss and leader.

But anyway I would throw however much money we can possibly afford on a head coach and make an offer to Frost. Not only is his offense high powered but they play great defense. I think most just assume he is an offensive guy but that's not correct. He spent his first 2 years coaching on the defensive side of the ball, one year as co defensive coordinator. Make this guy say no before going any further!

Would love to have him. Just figure he's Nebraska bound.

This. Even if he came here, we'd be counting the days until he left for Lincoln, especially if he did well.

If he doesn't go to Nebraska this time around, I wouldn't be worried about him leaving for Lincoln.  A bigger fish, maybe.

Yeah, we're not accustomed to that level of winning.

0-12 in 2015 (year before he arrived)
6-7 in 2016.
9-0 in 2017, with a good chance to go undefeated.

0-12 to undefeated in two years.  Pretty remarkable.

UCF was 0-12 the season before he took over and they went 6-7 losing in a bowl in his first season. This season they are 9-0. Pretty impressive turn around actually.

Well, they face off in a top 25 matchup the final game of the season. I guess that will tell us a lot.

Until he failed at Texas I was on the CS bandwagon. 16-21 does not impress me

Would we hire a guy that was involved in a lawsuit for screwing a major booster's wife, after we had our own sex scandal that cost us a coach?

Frost is a very good Coach.

In regards to outright coaching ability alone, the following who are available are the best regarding outright coaching ability (in order from the best to still very good).

Brent Venables
Matt Campbell  (his buyout though is a hindrance)
Chad Morris
Scott Frost
Neal Brown

Whoever ends up hiring the above 5 Coaches, will have an excellent Coach.

Nebraska's got many of the same issues that we have here.  Not sure they are the national program they once were and they sure aren't going to win big with home grown talent.  Not sure Frost would be interested in a place that will be tough to win at.  Even if it was his alma mater.
*this is not a criticism of moderatin.

Do we really want a HC that would jump to Nebraska if he is offered?

I think you will find that answer this year about jumping to Nebraska.  I think the Huskers will have a vacancy, and Frost will have that offer.
If the Hogs are wrong!  I don't want to be right!

Here is the breakdown of voting from 57 voters who submitted ballots for the @AP Coach of the Year:
https://trib.al/AX91OiP
QuoteScott Frost has been named The Associated Press coach of the year after leading Central Florida to an unbeaten season.

Frost, who is the new coach at Nebraska, but plans to complete the season with UCF and coach the 10th-ranked Knights against No. 7 Auburn in the Peach Bowl.

"I was very fortunate to work with a special group at UCF for the last two years," Frost said in a statement to the AP. "I've told them a number of times that what they accomplished this season was nothing short of impossible. Any honor or award I receive based on what we accomplished as a team is a credit to those student-athletes. I'm very proud to have been a part of this magical season."
